At Vlotho Castle/ Auf der Burg Vlotho

Hello, dear ones! I wish you all a wonderful day. Did you have a good start to the day? And did you have a lovely weekend?
Our outing started quite magically - with fresh cherry picking in the morning. The scent of the ripe fruit, the gentle rustling of the trees and the laughter as we picked them put us in a wonderful mood and created the perfect basis for an unforgettable summer's day.

In the evening, we enjoyed the incredible beauty of Vlotho Castle, which towers high above the Weser valley. The view was simply magnificent: a breathtaking panorama as far as the Teutoburg Forest. The castle sits majestically on the Amtshausberg and is now home to the Spanish restaurant El Castillo - Burg Vlotho.

We had heard that the food there was not only excellent, but that the view was also an absolute feast for the eyes. That made us curious - so we set off.
Unfortunately, we weren't able to visit the restaurant as it was closed that day, but we took the opportunity to take a long walk around the castle grounds to discover everything we could.

The first thing that captivated us was the viewing platform. The view over the Weser valley was simply overwhelming - we stood there, marvelling and full of admiration. The view from the edge of the castle on this historic site was a feast for the eyes.

Nevertheless, the ambience around the restaurant enchanted us: Mediterranean charm wafted through the beer garden, modern bull sculptures adorned the area and lovingly planted clay pots with bright flowers adorned the entrance - a truly creative and inviting atmosphere.

And as always, our dog caused quite a stir - he posed with all his charm and became the secret star of the place for other visitors. We weren't the only ones taking souvenir photos... others couldn't resist either. 😄

We will definitely visit the restaurant - because we really want to try the Spanish cuisine for ourselves! But even if it's closed, the walk up is worth it for the view alone. The grounds are freely accessible and it's a wonderful place to unwind.
An absolute highlight for a day trip - perhaps in combination with a hike through the marvellous woodland area that directly adjoins the castle. For those who are good walkers, there are great opportunities here to combine nature and history.

Auf der Burg Vlotho

Hallo, ihr Lieben! Ich wünsche euch allen einen wunderschönen Tag. Seid ihr auch gut in den Tag gestartet? Und hattet ihr ein schönes Wochenende?

Unser Ausflug begann ganz zauberhaft – mit frischem Kirschenpflücken am Morgen. Der Duft der reifen Früchte, das leise Rascheln der Bäume und das Lachen beim Sammeln stimmten uns wunderbar ein und schufen die perfekte Grundlage für einen unvergesslichen Sommertag.

Am Abend genossen wir dann die unglaubliche Schönheit der Burg Vlotho, die hoch über dem Wesertal thront. Der Ausblick war einfach grandios: ein atemberaubendes Panorama bis hin zum Teutoburger Wald. Die Burg liegt majestätisch auf dem Amtshausberg und beherbergt heute das spanische Restaurant El Castillo – Burg Vlotho.

Wir hatten gehört, dass es dort nicht nur hervorragendes Essen geben soll, sondern auch die Aussicht ein absoluter Augenschmaus sei. Das machte uns neugierig – also machten wir uns auf den Weg.
Zwar konnten wir das Restaurant leider nicht besuchen, da es an diesem Tag geschlossen war, aber wir nutzten die Gelegenheit für einen ausgedehnten Spaziergang über das Burggelände, um alles zu entdecken, was möglich war.

Als Erstes zog uns die Aussichtsplattform in ihren Bann. Der Blick über das Wesertal war schlichtweg überwältigend – wir standen da, staunend und voller Bewunderung. So ein Anblick vom Burgrand dieses historischen Geländes war ein Fest für die Augen.

Das Ambiente rund ums Restaurant verzauberte uns trotzdem: mediterraner Charme wehte durch den Biergarten, moderne Stier-Skulpturen schmückten den Bereich, und liebevoll bepflanzte Tontöpfe mit leuchtenden Blumen zierten den Eingang – eine wirklich kreative und einladende Atmosphäre.

Und wie immer sorgte unser Hund für Aufsehen – er posierte mit all seinem Charme und wurde von anderen Besuchern zum heimlichen Star des Platzes. Nicht nur wir knipsten fleißig Erinnerungsfotos… auch andere konnten nicht widerstehen. 😄

Das Restaurant werden wir auf jeden Fall noch besuchen – denn wir wollen uns unbedingt selbst von der spanischen Küche überzeugen! Aber selbst wenn es geschlossen ist: Der Weg hinauf lohnt sich allein wegen des Ausblicks. Das Gelände ist frei zugänglich, und man kann dort wunderbar die Seele baumeln lassen.

Ein absolutes Highlight für einen Tagesausflug – vielleicht in Kombination mit einer Wanderung durch das herrliche Waldgebiet, das sich direkt an die Burg anschließt. Für alle, die gut zu Fuß sind, bieten sich hier tolle Möglichkeiten, Natur und Geschichte zu verbinden.
