RE: Thoughts on Self-hosting

I host around 70-80 docker containers as well as a few vms on Ryzen mini pcs. All clustered with sub 3 minute fail over.

Everything is extremely fast, and the entire cluster is less than 100W w/ 2.5Gbit switches and 10Gbit backend. The cluster, the switches (4), come in at around 100W last I checked. I also have a dual 10Gbit 60TB NAS that's about 55W. I pay roughly double wattage per year, so 100W costs me about $200/yr.

Oh right - 100W is doable - 60 TB of NAS - That's a gulp

This is what I use, 3 of them in a proxmox cluster. They use about 10-12W most of the time.

Right - GMKtec - I have one of their boxes. Not that one though. It's the 60TB of storage that worries me. The chain is getting that big?

the 60TB isn't for the chain, this is my home lab setup.

I also want to upgrade to ms-01 or ms-a2 for 10gbit sfp+ (I have 10g sfp+ backbone). 12 ports $210, and sfp+ is a lot lower power than rj45 which is why I use it.

I mainly use my NAS for backups and media, it's 6 14TB drives. I also have NVME drives in for another set of docker containers, but only like 10.

Sad that all these mini pcs are not available in India. 😕

There is no one that ships there?

There are a few sites but I don't know if I can trust them. Amazon is not delivering to India. Probably I have to find someone who can buy it and bring it to India. That would then become a costly option if I have to pay customs.
