I hate to have to write this post, I just got back from vacation and again it's more bullshit I got to deal with. The bullshit in question is some accounts I added to ZERO to remove rewards as I disagreed with them. This resulted in many conversations on and off chain and a lot upset people. Some people left discord, changed their name to Bot676765563773 and removed their avatar out of protest.
These four accounts were brought to my attention a few days ago. After looking at them, I agreed I disagreed with them and added them to ZERO.
The four accounts all create posts/comments to earn rewards to buy back/burn Hive Engine tokens, specifically tokens related to Rising Star game. The general idea is a post is created, players of the game vote on it, and half of the rewards earned are used to buy back tokens and potentially burn them. I do not believe this is a fair use of the shared reward pool and is why I added them to ZERO.
I was accused of having something against Hive Engine tokens, and to be honest I couldn't care less what people do with their rewards in terms of buying/selling/burning Hive tokens. The problem I have is how the rewards are earned. Creating daily posts to just stick upvotes to so the rewards (not even all, but half) are used to manipulate a second layer token only benefits a small group of people for selfish reasons. This was not done only one account, but multiple different accounts.
Rising Star made it clear it was not their accounts, and doesn't change my opinion of it, but it is good to know.
I was sarcastically asked by Rising Star if it would be better if the poster put a picture of their lunch in the post. This wouldn't change anything, it would still remain the same selfish self serving automated churn.
But but we are not using automation. Again, I really don't care, it's a systematic daily automation, either by computer or human. There is no value being created and offered to the community, just extracting rewards and turning it into a benefit for those who vote or at least have assets in the game. I have nothing against Rising Star, and in fact love they are around. I played around the game briefly and I have nothing bad to say about it.
This has nothing to do with that. There have been thousands of attempts to create this same cycle each with their own justification on why it is a good thing and why it isn't abuse. Even Hive Watchers did the same thing with their 60-80 self voted comments a day. Hive is suppose to be proof of brain, not proof of reward. Almost every project attempts to create a "curation report" or tokenomics report that "gives to the community" but in reality is just a way to get votes.
@stickupboys posted you can't build on Hive and I (and others) are just bullying users. I find this laughably ironic considering how he messaged users in the Man Cave discord threatening to crash the price of LGN if they didn't stop selling a few dollars worth of LGN tokens. Not sure what is more bullying than this. Against popular believe, this has nothing to do with anyone and is not just bullying people because I can. I have guidelines that determine what I add and remove from ZERO. I don't just add stuff because I want to bully some random people I don't know. I am sorry to be the one to say this, but creating multiple accounts that create daily posts just to get votes so you can buy/burn Hive Engine tokens isn't building things, it's taking the easy way out and doing what just about every other project has attempted to do because it is easy af and takes zero effort. If that's all it took to build something on Hive, we would all be rich.
Building on Hive or anywhere, is hard af. It takes effort and work and clever ideas. Building on Hive is probably easier than anywhere else on the Internet. I have said many times, Hive is probably the easiest way to make money on the Internet ever created. Granted it doesn't always scale to lambos, but it is stupid easy. Creating a sustainable business on the other hand is harder than finding diamonds in your backyard, it certainly isn't creating a cookie cutter post daily begging for votes.
I tried to read all the posts and comments, but being in the middle of the Atlantic ocean there was only so much I get through. There wasn't anything new being discussed though and none of it changed my mind on the topic.
I could go on, but it doesn't really change anything.
- I don't dislike Hive Engine tokens
- I don't dislike Rising Star
- I don't dislike building on Hive

This finance earned at 3 HBD a month is used to buy the token. The finance comes from members and their contribution to the club of 50 HBD.
The post rewards go to interest or to provide some financial assistance during event to perform missions.
The interest from HBD savings is used to buy the game tokens and other tokens outside of the game example Archon and Pizza.
These tokens are distributed then to members of the club.
Who accused "Thehive" of scamming rewards?
Move it to a month, and I'll remove it from ZERO.
Not me, it was in the list I was given but I skipped over it for obvious reasons. I did not touch that account.

Nah I see what you saying and not why I want out of Hive, it was just the end of a very very long list. There are many things that go on on hive that make me feel not very good about things. Month by month is adds up as well you know as we have discussed it previously. I guess this was the straw that broke the camels back as they say. Big up though Marky been nice to know ya, you are always interesting and occasionally fun!
For the record it was Marky who introduced me to you guys for the first time. At that time you used to make funny gifs.
Again I don't know what happened exactly, but I see what you are saying and I can somewhat agree to that. I also absolutely see what Marky said and did. I 100% agree with his actions.
If a game doesn't have an economy it can't rely on hive curation reward farming. That's a fact.
Ye that's not really the problem. I like Marky and see what he is saying. Its the long run of things of people with power dictating to others what they should and shouldn't do with their stake. Its tricky and its complicated I understand that. It is also very damaging some of what is being done and hurting a lot of people and communities on hive that are good people on the whole. A lot of people know us 1.2 billion gifs views does that. So they come to us and chat about things. People don't say a lot in public cause there is a culture of fear here around big accounts. All that is observed is about the hypocrisy of how some of the bigger players work in that they have freedom while others do not. Watching lots of groups and communities being told off, vilified and bullied into a certain set of values time and time again has worn us out like many others leaving the platform. SO this is more about trying to get people to think a bit more of the effect some actions are having on others. There are a few bad actors on Hive that is for sure, acidyo and marky are not one of them. However they do not quite realise the very harmful effect they have on people and on hive by doing what they are doing. This is not about a single thing but more general approach to how hive can develop into a more positive place. We came here 4 years ago with high hopes, a sense of freedom and excitement. I feel sad to leave with a sense of sadness and disappointment. Even more sad that some people who could make a positive difference wont think wow, why did they leave? they were dedicated well known content creators, maybe we should have a re-think about what is going on here. They will just stay with the same old narrative around reward pool abuse or such arguments. The reward pool has meant very little to us and we are not here because we have been picked on or down voted, we haven't. We just don't want to to watch it happen time and time again, to some good people trying to do something on hive.
I have been here seven years. During that time I was not a large stakeholder for a lot of the time, I am still not. But whatever I am I have bought my stake mostly. So I can see what you are saying. Yes there are hypocrites, in fact a lot of them who are giving you soothing remarks and bashing “whales” are bigger hypocrites than Marky. So I understand your point of view. The little that I know about you, I can comment that you are not here for drama.
So, any other person writing a post saying “I am leaving” I would smirk. But not you. I can tell that you are not doing drama and whatever you are saying is coming out of your heart.
We are what we are. Our wisdom is simply net sum of our experiences. I can’t tell you right or wrong or what to do and what not to do. I do tell that to some abusers but my gut feeling tells me that you are coming from a better place.

I think there would be a lot less anger and frustration if down voters left a comment such as "I have downvoted this post for the following reason(s):" rather than just doing it. And maybe even leaving suggestions on what constitutes a quality post.
The quality rules for posts are subjective and you may have a good idea of what you believe they should be (and you may believe that everyone knows these rules) but that is not the case for many. Yes many people plead ignorance and know they are trying to do the minimum to get rewards (it's free money so that will never change) but these posts were a genuine attempt to help us become self sustainable so we can continue for many years to come. The rewards all stayed within the ecosystem rather than being withdrawn. The actual rewards are tiny and do not make much difference to us but it was heart warming to see players care enough about the game to try and do something.
We tried the DHF route at the beginning of the bear market and it didn't get passed but we were passionate enough about what we are doing to continue to cover our costs in anticipation of the next alt season (come on HIVE, time to join the party!).
Please remember there are many HIVE users who are new and when they see downvotes for no reason (even on posts that are obviously very low quality) it is a negative experience which may drive them away. If they saw a comment to teach them why the post was downvoted they may be encouraged to stick around and create better content.
Yes I was sarcastic in a discord group (one that thrives on sarcastic banter - nothing wrong with that) because I was angry and frustrated as one of my best friends and one of the biggest supporters of many projects on HIVE @stickupboys had had enough and was leaving. I am human. I have emotions. And there are plenty of food pics that don't get downvoted.

Upvotes are a bigger problem than downvotes. 99.14% of votes are upvotes. They don’t leave comments.
If I left a comment, then it would just be a back and forth argument and 99.999999999999% of the time it will end the same way, they are a victim and I am an asshole.
