Today in the labs on my little homestead farm, I am working on some modified designs on a the hydroponics tower I have been working on. I have been playing with the design and settings a bit to reduce print time and material used so I can get a bit better profit margin when I go to try and sell them.

This model I am working on is an 80% scale of the original and gives me another option to offer if people don't want the bigger, higher priced model. One of the main things I am trying to also get dialed in is the temperature, print speed, and retraction settings so I can lessen the amount of blobbing and stringing that happens with PETG filament. PETG is preferred for these kind of things because they can take outside heat and are a bit stronger than say PLA. But it can be difficult to get fully dialed in the way you want. But that is all apart of the process.

I am loving the size of this model though. It's certainly smaller than the original and is really cute to be honest. I am excited to try and print up a full model but I need some more filament. With this new size and settings though, I should be able to print a full unit with only 1 roll vs 3-4! So I am saving some major plastic with just making a small size adjustment and some settings adjustments to save on excess materials.

Anyway, time to get back to some more designs and prints! I am also trying to fix and finish my design for a seed starter and microgreens self watering plater. I love being able to do this kind of thing. Basically think it up, learn to do some 3D modeling, and you can make almost anything!

Until next time...

Be cool, be real, and always abide my dudes!

I am loving it. Aside from the frustration sometimes of failed prints, but again, that's a whole part of the process. Nothing is perfect, at least in my experience, haha.
