The Mutant Zucchini Just Keep Coming!

I guess one plant that I got right in the @run-a-muck-farms garden this year is the zucchini! This yellow variety has been interesting to watch grow because it will turn green at times, but dang, these things get huge as well! These are seriously some of the biggest zucchini I have ever seen! The thing is, I am using all organic stuff. No chemicals at all and no GMO fertilizers. That's probably what the magic is. So I guess I got the soil right for this variety, because they just don't stop!

Not only are they getting massive, but they also keep coming! I believe one plant will give me enough veggies to get through the winter, haha. Needless to say this is certainly going to be a plant that is grown in the garden every year!

There are at least 4 more going that will need to be picked soon. 2 of the ones that still need to be picked are not going to be far off of these guys. Guess I'll pick them tomorrow.

I am not a small guy and these things are as big as my forearm. It's insane! So I am trying to figure out something to do with all this instead of just slicing and freezing. I have been slicing them up and eating some raw with hummus, but one can only eat so much zucchini, haha. The one problem is that when they get this big, the seeds get pretty large so it's best to pick those. Guess for now, I am going to let them sit for a bit. Will probably go give one to my grandmother this afternoon, it'll be a good excuse for a visit.

Until next time...

Keep being ungovernable, grow fresh food, and just enjoy your life!

Did you weigh your zucchinis? I only have 1 plant so a lot of mine didn't pollinate, and so most didn't make it. I only ended up with 4 this year, and the largest one weighed 1.4kg, I was really chuffed with that.

Kind of. I don't have a kitchen scale, but when I picked the first one of that size a few weeks ago, I weighed myself with and without it and it was about 3.5 pounds.
