Does the VSC crew know that Altera is the name of a well known semiconductor company? When people go to look up their DEFI platform they advertise as being open, this actual company is all I can find.
Why is it so hard for people to come up with an original name? I mean the whales straight jacked "Hive Blockchain" from the publicly traded company, Hive Blockchain, who then had to change their name because they couldn't sue anyone here, which I always thought was BS. No market research was done at all. They must have just thought it was a cool name and went with it...
It makes it very difficult when trying to talk to people about the platform, and all they think of is the stock and then you have to explain the whole thing, which is a major turn off...
We will likely change the name in the future. However, it is worth noting that name use as long as it's unique within an industry is generally considered ok. Altera is just a sub product of VSC (and our soon rebrand as well)
Well, the publicly traded company, Hive Blockchain, now Hive Technologies, didn't really think it was okay... Although a mining company, still, pretty much same industry. Just saying, it didn't take much looking to see that there is another Altera in the tech space overall and found nothing on your project. You guys are marketing it on X like it's already available.
In the case of Hive blockchain company it's definitely reasonable. Will note this as feedback
