I just wonder, what are benefits in being HE witness ? Why should I want to be one?
It's essentially the same as being a Hive witness, but for Hive-Engine. It helps 'decentralize' the second layer and keep it secure. I have been a witness since it was in testnet, so I keep it running because it pays me in BEE tokens. People with WORKERBEE staked can vote your witness, which can be a problem because not a ton of people hold those. Same 20 +1 model as the main chain. I can't tell you why you would want to be one, that's up to you. If I hadn't been on it for years at this point, I wouldn't start one up now. I don't like having to campaign for votes. That is why I like proof of work so much more.

Was it easy to set up a witness for HE?
It's not incredibly difficult. There are a couple of great guides out there that basically walks you through it. The hardest part is getting the support from the people holding all the WORKERBEE which is the token needed to have any kind of voting weight, similar to Hive Power, this is what gets you in the top 20 so you can consistently produce blocks and earn BEE tokens.
I have been witnessing from testnet and have a couple of projects I run, that's how I got the votes I did.
