Graduation Day- Proud Daddy Post

The time has come for me as a parent to let the birdies fly! It's been a wild month or so for the Dude's family. Things are changing, and let me tell you what, at a much faster pace than I could imagine. I feel like I blinked and they were adults, WTF happened?!?

Earlier in May, my son (in the 3rd picture with my daughter) moved to New Jersey which is clear across the country from where we are now in Oregon to be with his long time girlfriend and they are starting their lives together. And then now, my youngest is graduating high school and moving off to college in the fall!

To quote Ferris Beuller 'Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.'

I am feeling that more than ever right now. It's like one second, they are goofy little kids, now they are big goofy, but amazing young adults, lol. Nothing in the world compares to watching your kids accomplish awesome milestones in life, knowing you busted your ass to help get them there.

Nobody is a perfect parent, lord knows their mom and I were far from it, but they are still here, and thriving! Which is more than I can unfortunately say for some families, so I can't help but to feel extremely blessed even though I don't feel I deserve it. I made sacrifices over the years turning down opportunites for financial gains because I would rather have jobs and careers that allowed me to be as involved with my kids as possible instead of being a slave to the system and missing out on everything. So as I may be struggling later on financially, it's completely worth it to be involved in my kids' lives and be there for as many functions as possible.

Money is nothing, legacy is everything! What kind of legacy are you leaving?
