Every 3D Printer Farm Needs One Of These- More Upgrades In The Lab

One of the biggest things I am learning on my 3D printing journey is the importance of keeping your filament dry. Now for those who have no idea what that means, well the filament is the plastic that you use in a 3D printer. That's just what it's called. The problem is that it absorbs moisture, and in a humid climate, that can work against you.
If you have been following along my journey, then you know that I bought a double roll dryer last week and it is working like a charm and my prints are coming out SO MUCH BETTER! So I knew I needed one for each of the other printers. Well today, they came to the door via FedEx! I got them unboxed, setup, and they are already drying! Due to my current setup in the Logical Labs here on my homestead that I call Moss Rock Farms, I was better off getting a single dryer for each of the other 2 machines I have. It just works out better in the long run. The great thing is that I can turn on the dryers while printing to help keep the filament as moisture free as possible before and during the printing process to get the best quality possible.
I am finally feeling a bit of completeness here in my little factory, which is a nice feeling. So now, I just need to start getting more filament rolls, lol. I already see a new addiction forming. But hey, the way I look at it. I can get rolls of some good filament for a great price and make whatever I need! So to me, that's better than gold!
Until next time, you know what to do...
Be cool, be real, and always abide!

Actually you are supposed to soak weed eater string... No shit...
And definitely need to look into how to recycle your plastic as well!
This isn't weedeater string, LOL. I have heard that before too, but this is a completely different thing entirely.
The gear I need to do the recycling of plastic and making it into usable filament is expensive as fuck, lol. But it's in the plans down the road. I would need 3K just for the equipment to do it right, already been looking into it.
Yes it is! Damn it! Lol.
But actually it completely proves your process point.. it totally needs to be handled in the right way. Pretty crazy it actually says that on the directions for your weed eater string that you have to soak it...
I used to do a lot of works with plastics molding. Some of my first jobs were with plastics molding.
I had one company that actually is out of business now and they had million dollar molds. They screwed me over big time. So when I quit I took a pair of rods. To the molds... Huge issues and cost for the most used and expensive...... Blah blah blah blah!
I used it for decades as a workout bar. Like 30,000 k bar....
Last plastic job I had for someone else.... It's wild. Just wear gloves around hot plastic. Nothing hurt worse longer than a dab of gooey hot plastic.... Burns absolutely hurt really bad however plastic Burns just have something about them that hurt even worse...
That's definitely a horrible way to go to be burned with plastic.
It may be similar to weedeater string, but not the same usecase at all, I get what you are saying though. I am actually using PETG which is used for water bottles, milk jugs, and other things. It's actually pretty dense. These filaments are made for this purpose, you couldn't stick some weedeater string in these machines, lol.
Yeah I've actually seen some pretty crazy stuff they have quite a few different grades of extremely precise kinds of plastics. You can get some stuff that is super stiff and durable. And other stuff that is softer and able to be flexible.
Well.. Might have to see about figuring out a way to dry our filament, though we don't really do nor care for pristine prints in the grand scheme of things as often we just print little mods for out coffee machine and what not.
Here in England is can be pretty humid, here in my house it is especially so cause I have 2 fish tanks pumping moisture into the air. So probably worth looking into as a factor for our printer always being a pain in the but.. But first we actually have to fix the damn firmware on it as the company behind the printer seems to like to bust everything with every update.
Yeah man, i was finding that I was wasting a bunch of material because things would break or would just not function right because of the wet filament. Plus I am eventually wanting to sell stuff so I want it to be good quality
That’s good and I can feel that you are becoming fulfilled
Now, you’re having an addiction
I hope the addiction is welcome
At least it’s a productive addiction, lol. Could be and has been a lot worse of a type of addiction, 😂
I like seeing what you are doing building out the farm. Have you checked out the Sonic Pad from Creality? I bought one recently and it is a game changer when it comes to printing on my Ender 3 s1 pro. Much faster prints and better quality.
That’s cool, but not compatible with my base Ender 3 unfortunately. I have figured out how to get my speeds faster, but I am printing mostly PETG so I need slower speeds anyway to get good quality prints. I have tried printing faster, but the prints seem way more brittle. I may try a couple of tests now that I have the filament dryers to see if that helps.
It is a pity it doesn't work with your Ender 3 but I have heard they are expanding the list of compatible prints often. Klipper is a nice interface. I am mostly printing PLA because I like the lack of smell and it seems strong enough for most of my applications.
I am only really starting out and trying to learn design software with Freecad which is very difficult. I discovered Alibre today which seems much easier.
I am making garden and hydroponic equipment that will be outside so I have to go with PETG for most of my stuff. My next printers are probably going to be Bambu Labs or upgraded Enders. Couldn’t turn down the price of what I got mine for though.
