Celebrating 6 Years on the Hive Blockchain
Wow how time flies, am I right?!? The last 6 years have been a ride that I had never thought I would have found myself on. I never thought about becoming a blogger, but in 2019, when I was looking at starting my nomad adventure, I needed a way to earn crypto that wasn't through mining. I had been toying with some proof of stake blockchains, but not making near the returns as I did by just running ASICs and GPUs. That was until I found Hive (then Steem). Over the years I have had my full on love/hate relationships with this platform, but I am still here and still rocking!
Hive Opened Up New Doors
Hive opened up some new doors for me in the way of content creation. I had been toying around with posting some crypto YouTube videos and even trying to post some music based content, but wasn't really getting anywhere, and certainly wasn't getting paid anything. When I found this blockchain, it opened up doors in a way that YouTube alone could never open them, much less any other social network. It also opened me up to a whole new group of people that I have learned a lot from over the years. I thought that video was the only way to try and grow, thought blogs were dead, but I was wrong! I had never really thought about blogging before to make money, and 6 years later, here I am, still blogging!
Hive and the community has opened up my brain to all kind of different opportunities and different ways to look at things through the different cultures that are around here. I have started looking at things in an entirely different mindset than I had before. This has opened up all kind of new doors for me over the last 6 years.
Hive Is Unlike Any Other Blockchain
Hive has set itself apart in a way that no other blockchain has been able to. It has some great fundamentals and real Web 3 use cases that honestly get overlooked in this space because of the hype from all the garbage in the space. Hive is that rose floating in a sea of turds. Not to say it doesn't have it's issues, because it does, mainly in the form of the old guard cabal that wants to keep Hive small so they can get all the big rewards. But you are going to have those kind of people everywhere, it's unavoidable.
For what it does and is meant to do, Hive is great! Sure, we all want smart contracts and such, but there are a ton of other chains, and now second layers, that can handle these needs. There is no other chain that can handle the text storage and ownership protection like Hive can. You are the owner of your data!, not some Silicon Valley tech company! That is the biggest thing for me, especially in these days of AI.
I Even Tried Building Projects- But Failed
In these 6 years, I have supported many projects like Weedcash and others, and have even tried building my own projects to help give use cases to the chain, like e-commerce with @Hivelist and give musicians a voice and earnings on @blocktunes. Now, even though both of these projects are basically on life-support, they are still up and running and serving the community, even though I have not been as active as I should be. The lack of motivation has come from the lack of support when and where it was needed the most from the community. That's been a huge frustration for me with this chain.
WARNING: Here is where I am going to rant a bit... I have tried over and over to get people involved with my projects, offer incentives, etc, but what I have found is that a good bit of people that come here, are just looking to leech rewards instead of trying to build or support an actual alternative economy and ecosystem. It feels like an ice pick to my forehead every time I see someone say we need e-commerce on Hive. WE HAVE HAD IT SINCE 2020!!! THE COMMUNITY JUST FAILS TO USE IT!!! All people are worried about is their fiat bags going up instead of actually ditching fiat for a better, alternative currency! SO THE HIVE COMMUNITY NEEDS TO WAKE UP AND SUPPORT THESE KIND OF EFFORTS IF YOU WANT TO KEEP PEOPLE AROUND! We need to mature as an industry, not continuing to cater to children who want to bet on complete shit coins and scams. But I digress...
I Even Explored Other Opportunities
For a time, I went off and was working in other blockchain ecosystems to gain more experience in this industry that I wasn't getting on Hive. I joined a validator team for the Cosmos ecosystem, and learned quickly that although Hive has some turd users, the Cosmos space was 10X worse, lol. Nothing but a bunch of airdrop hunting, low IQ idiots over there that try to act like they know everything. This was also the time that I moved the majority of my investments into ATOM/UST and LUNA/UST pools that were locked up for 2 weeks to earn stupid APY. Well, we all know how that went. The Dude lost well into six figures the week before his 40th birthday... Let's just say that wasn't fun. The whole time though, I was still trying to involve Hive and the community.
After that, I fell back and really just started focusing on trading and trying to get some website gigs for a while, which that is a whole other story, haha. But let's just say that I am still trading and not building as many websites... I got tired of trying to please people and begging for my money after doing the job. With trading, there are no customers to please, just people on the other end of the trade. That's it. So I decided to stick to trading and posting content on Hive, and well, I am glad I did! Now, with the help of my earnings from both, I have built out a 3D printing farm, and beginning to build out my dream of a solar powered mining farm!
Here's To 6 more Years
So even with the ups and downs that I have experienced through the last 6 years here on Hive, I am still here and posting. I am not investing the money I did before into the platform, because I have put more than my fair share here in the way of tokens and trying to build businesses. So my contributions from here will be just posting, what I think would be fun and engaging content, at least I hope. Everything from drones and 3D printing to homestead farming and building out a solar powered crypto mining farm, I will be continuing to produce content for you guys! I may even throw some trading tips out there, but that whole thing seems way over saturated at this point, so I want to explore new content styles! So I hope you give me a follow and enjoy another 6 years of content on Hive from your favorite DUDE!
Until next time...
Be cool, be real, and always abide with you my dudes!

@thelogicaldude, congrats on completing six years on Hive. I am 3 months short to completing four years.
It's been a fun ride so far and looking forward to future.
Thank you sir!
I'm glad you are still here. Your diesel pools and tokens have helped me grow. You should see if you could colab with the @centtoken. They got this new TRIBE token where they are doing a token study. https://peakd.com/hive-173575/@anadolu/tribe-token-6j7. And if you made a pool together, I would defiantly put liquidity into it.
Glad my little projects have help you out! Thanks for the info, I will certainly look into it.
Your welcome.
