A Clean Shop is a Happy and Productive Shop

Sometimes, you get so cluttered up in your life and workspace that things just need to change. Well, that is the idea around here in the @run-a-muck-farms workshop! I have had a ton going on, stuff coming in and out, people coming in and out, and the shop just looked like a war zone. I was time to clean up and do some rearranging so that I can get back to some productivity.

First up was the drone and electronics workbench. The setup I had was on my middle table and ended up becoming a catch-all spot which in turn made it incredibly hard to work. What I did was that I moved 2 of my older Ender 3 3D printers to the floor because they aren't really in use, and this made the perfect space to make my new workbench. With the new helping hands setup I got for my birthday, this space is now the ultimate electronics workstation!

Next up is the solar charging station! I found out the hard way that you get what you pay for when it comes to solar panels. What I thought was going to be enough to power my ASIC miners, well, is not. But it is great for running basically everything else like my Mac farm, modem and router, and all my battery chargers. So this spot on the table made for a great charging station.

Then came a complete rearrangement of the main 'office' and music studio section of the workshop. The main problem was that my desk chair was cheap and has seen the last of it's days holding up my big ass.

So instead of getting a new chair, I decided to change things up and move the computer stuff over where the DJ area was, and vice versa. This gives me a standing desk setup that keeps me mobile instead of getting sat in the chair and next thing I know it's hours later. I do have a tall folding chair that I can use if I need to pop a squat while I am working or flying the drone simulators. It's working out really well.

The new DJ setup is great. I 3D printed some angled stands for my speakers, a cool looking headphone stand, and a stand to hold my 7 inch records! I feel like all this made for a better use of the space. Not only that, but with my new health focus, it keeps me on my feet instead of sitting on my butt and doing more damage to my body.

And on that healthy note, I found a big screw-in hook that was coated in rubber and drilled a hole in the door frame of our little storage closet area to help it screw in easier. This made for a great little hanger for my resistance bands and now I have a little make shift gym in the workshop! I used it this morning, and it worked out great, haha, get it?

Lastly, I turned the center table that was the workbench into a drone staging area. I made little 3D printed labels and glued them to this matte that helps me keep my batteries all straight and helps me keep them organized by their state of charge. So if they aren't charged up, they sit in that column until they are either fully charged or put into storage mode.

Next to that, I have an area that I can use for all my drone and accessory cases as well as a staging and finishing area for 3D prints. This space lets me keep all my stuff on the ready so that I can quickly be able to charge batteries and pack up to go fly at any time!

So, that's it! That's the post. It's really a great thing to get your area cleaned up and straightened up to help you be more productive in whatever task you are doing. I hope you take this as some inspiration to clean up your own life and workspace so you too can be more productive!

Until next time...

Be cool, be real, and always abide with you my dudes!

It looks like heaven.

Considering I live with my mother again, we've got a storage area and it's all cluttered up. I told her I wanted to throw away most of the stuff in there, but I know deep down there's no point: She's going to say no and if I do it anyways, she's going to get more stuff to clutter it even more. lol

I moved back in with the folks when Dad was sick and Mom doesn't want me to leave so I get you. I have been cleaning up YEARS of hoarded shit, but she hasn't been arguing with me at all about it, lol. She's very thankful, haha.

The deal with me moving back was that I took over this area, lol.
