Pokemon Blue Venonat Starter - Part Twenty Five
Time to clear the underground base but are the leaders Pokemon too strong?
This is a play through of Pokemon Blue by using RetroArch to emulate the game. I am randomising the Pokemon in areas with similar strength so it isn't completely randomised, while choosing three starters of similar types
As Goliath continues through the Team Rocket base, he continues to find items on the ground and among them were a HP UP that is going to come in handy for a Pokemon getting even stronger, but also the technical machine to learn razor wind, something to keep for if he has a great bird Pokemon he wants to teach it to.
One of the Rocket grunts he found bragged with jokes, about the lift key being missing so it was time to teach him a lesson!
Vulpix got close to solo taking out Bellsprout with its ember but.. stun spore and wrap plus it having faster speed than Vulpix, meant changing out to Venonat to double edge the victory into level twenty two.
This was followed up by bringing out Vulpix but changing back to Venonat for the Zubat to be beaten, giving a level fourteen for the Vulpix to be gained, to slowly but surely get stronger so there is a good fire type that can keep being used.
Beating this Rocket grunt meant he drops the lift key that was being held to stop people using the lift, so now Goliath will be able to use the lift and get around easier and fight the leader!
The first use of the lift saw the wrong floor traveled to as Goliath had forgotten, he should be going down not up.. but he faced a Rocket grunt and took out an Exeggcute and Oddish before heading back into the lift and getting to the correct floor.
Upon reaching the final floor which had a locked door guarded by two grunts, no doubt to ensure you cannot face the boss until beating them, he first grabbed the Iron on the table nearby. This helps as it allowed boosting the defence of a Pokemon and it went on Dratini.
It was the last stint of the underground base with two grunts in front of the bosses room. The first wasn't happy with Goliath stopping their plans in Mt Moon so long ago now, his Charmander was his first hope but the Wartortle's water gun ensured it got burned out.
The Male Nidoran that had followed didn't get too much damage onto Venonat, the Dewgong though managed to get some nice headbutts onto Grimer.. making it flinch twice before it could get another thunderbolt in order to take Dewgong out, though it managed to really hurt Grimer even when being eleven levels lower and Vulpix is now level fifteen thanks to swapping to and from it!
It was time to face Giovanni the Team Rocket boss and the Butterfree came out at level twenty five. A failed stun spore led to Vulpix using ember for only a small bit of damage, before sleep powder put it to sleep.
Grimer came out and got done by stun spore but the paralysis was removed right away, giving room to get confused before thunderbolt almost took out Butterfree and a body slam would be required.
Goliath was feeling the heat but was feeling confident in getting the win. The second Pokemon Giovanni had was Goldeen and it was a one shot thunderbolt of course, to then see a level twenty nine Raichu come out as the final badass Pokemon for this battle.
Goliath changed to Shellder as he didn't mind it fainting to allow the Venonat a better chance, of doing some initial damage. Unfortunately the Venonat was taken out without getting to do much but disable Raichu's growl and no damage was done.
Well it was time for Dratini to be tried out in this fight which saw them both paralysed due to thunder wave.. Giovanni used guard spec and Goliath used paralyse heal to open up a constant barrage of using wrap, ensuring the damage stayed consistent and would see a victory against Giovanni and his Raichu and would have been a tough battle, if wrap wasn't availble.
Vulpix hit level seventeen after the other Rocket grunt battle had seen it hit level sixteen and learn quick attack. Now the Silph Scope has been left by Giovanni, Goliath can head back to Lavender Town at some point and be able to reveal ghosts!
Emulator used: RetroArch with a Gameboy Colour core
ROMS: Pokemon Blue after being put through the randomiser
Saving: (Used for quick loading and for getting back to before I had all Pokemon faint, if I lose and so it is quicker.)
