Pokemon Blue Venonat Starter - Part Thirty Four

Safari Zone exploring and HM03 Surf

This is a play through of Pokemon Blue by using RetroArch to emulate the game. I am randomising the Pokemon in areas with similar strength so it isn't completely randomised, while choosing three starters of similar types

The next step was to check out the Safari Zone where you won't be battling Pokemon but, you will be able to throw bait or rocks at them while trying to catch any you want to go for.

You will get 30 safari balls to use and a limit of 500 steps before being pulled back out. So you will be wanting to either explore and collect a heap of items on the ground or you will be catching lots of Pokemon.

First up in the wild grass was a Kabuto and it was fed some bait before a ball was thrown at it. This of course did nothing and another was attempted, but this was also unsuccessful so it ended up running away.

Finding items was helpful when things like carbos to raise the speed permanently of a Pokemon were left lying about the place.

After that was given to Muk it was the technical machine from Koga holding toxic, that was taught to Venonat and can be a useful move to use for continuously weakening a strong Pokemon.

Items found around the Safari Zone can be very handy and range from a variety of things. Some are technical machines for new moves, some are high quality items restoring your Pokemon, like the full restore that was found, finding and collecting them is good to get done in a couple of trips for the low price of five hundred.

After attempting to catch an Omanyte and Kabuto but failing again, Goliath found a max revive and max potion which will be good for later along with that full restore previously found.

Then a Machop was encountered in the grass and while not as good.. it was still needing an attempt to catch it and increase the Pokedex further and it was successful!

Another attempt had to be made since time ran out and required five hundred more to go again. While moving about this time Goliath stopped to teach Rapidash skull bash and double team out of the technical machines that had been found, which gives it additional moves to help out.

A protein was soon found after teaching that to Rapidash, so this increases attack and Muk was given it like the other stat boosting items.

This run was a good one when he got to the end. Goliath was given the hidden machine containing surf, due to finding the guy holding it who had been waiting for so long to have someone find him.

Suitable move to teach to Wartortle which gives a strong water move and allows travelling through the water which is going to be needed to reach Cinnabar Island!

That will be the next step, once reached he will be able to fly back to Saffron city for the gym battle to be attempted. Also a bonus, was getting to catch Omanyte before finishing this trip in the Safari Zone.

Emulator used: RetroArch with a Gameboy Colour core
ROMS: Pokemon Blue after being put through the randomiser
Saving: (Used for quick loading and for getting back to before I had all Pokemon faint, if I lose and so it is quicker.)

As a kid i had a gameboy color but never made it far i loved collecting cards and watching the shows and mvoies as a kiddo and as an adult i enjoy watching it. I think an easier question to answer is which is my favorite pokemon i obv love pikachu but i love so many of them since gen 1 is where my heart is i mostly know and love the gen 1 pokemon.

I was the same, I was about 10 when Gen 1 was released in Australia and I loved Pokemon before that, since seeing it on a TV cartoon network before the games were out.
Collecting cards and opening the boosters was always amazing to do!
There are heaps of gen 1 Pokemon that can be favourites.. for me the top two are Dragonite and Magmar.

What a memory the safari zone. If I'm not mistaken, in this game, the only way to get a Tauros is in that place.
Cheers n.n
PS: Nice equipment you have.

Yes from what I remember from playing vanilla Pokemon gen 1, Tauros was only in the Safari zone. Luckily this is a randomised version!

Which equipment, sorry? You mean what I am running to play it?
