Pokemon Blue Venonat Starter - Part Fourty Three

Final gym fight time against Giovanni in Viridian City

This is a play through of Pokemon Blue by using RetroArch to emulate the game. I am randomising the Pokemon in areas with similar strength so it isn't completely randomised, while choosing three starters of similar types

At long last after a long road to get here, Goliath was up to the final gym in Viridian City, which would not unlock until he had the other seven badges!

It started with those arrow things that propel you to where ever they lead. Along with numerous trainers setup so you will be facing off against them to wear you down before facing Giovanni.

This first trainer had alright levels for his Pokemon but not alright enough, hyper beam drained the Gloom's health, so Dragonite had to be switched out for the fight against Aerodactyl which is a great Pokemon to have and rare because of needing a fossil to make one.

Cloyster was hurt by supersonic before wing attack did a little more damage. The blizzard Cloyster had been taught though, obliterated Aerodactyl not just from the level difference, but it is a really strong and effective move against it.

Goliath was getting through the trainers in this gym pretty quickly but seeing some great choices in here!

One had a Pidgeot which is a third level evolution and even though Dragonite's ice beam one shot it, it was still nice to see being used.. another was the Mr Mime which is not often something being seen in battle.

After proceeding to beat a trainer's Geodude, Omanyte and Seel, plus another weaker trainer it was a mostly basic fight against the trainer just before Giovanni whose best choice, was a Wigglytuff but it had x attack used on it before being worn down in two hits and opening up the time to fight off against Giovanni now!

Finally after a long journey of battling and catching Pokemon and the other seven gyms.. finally it was time to earn that last gym badge required to proceed through Victory road and onto the Elite Four so he could become a Pokemon master. All that is required now is to face the five Pokemon Giovanni has and that eighth badge was Goliath's.

First up was a level fourty five Farfetch'd that ate a fire spin before Moltres used fly and Giovanni used a guard spec, to no avail since one peck for a final move took it out, leaving the second choice of five to be a Dragonair.

It managed to get off the thunder wave so Moltres would at least be paralysed, but still able to continue the sky attack move used and get another take down achieved.

The Golduck fight got a bit crazy for Muk because it didn't manage to defeat it with one thunderbolt and the confusion set in, temporarily while the move was used and then it finished the fight with a body slam and Muk was able to hit level fifty two.

Only two more Pokemon were left to be defeated with the next being Golbat with good speed to get Haze off first before thunderbolt took out a lot of its health. Golbat got a wing attack off for some damage before one final attack ensure it wouldn't do anymore damage.

Finally the last Pokemon time for the final gym badge.. Muk at level fifty was brought out from Giovanni which would be tougher if having something not suitable was used against it.

Luckily psychic from Venomoth is super effective and the second use was going to hit, after a failed attempt on the weakened Muk which had used minimise and now harden as well.

Goliath was happy to have gotten his eighth gym badge and the final one required, meaning once he took the nice bit of money for his win, along with the technical machine for fissure that can one hit Pokemon, he was going to be able to heal and head for Victory Road and towards the Elite Four for the final set of challenges!

Of course he first taught Moltres fire blast finally and this was going to make it so much stronger.

Emulator used: RetroArch with a Gameboy Colour core
ROMS: Pokemon Blue after being put through the randomiser
Saving: (Used for quick loading and for getting back to before I had all Pokemon faint, if I lose and so it is quicker.)
