Pokemon Blue Venonat Starter - Part Eleven
Misty has a what? Cerulean gym again and do I continue on now?
This is a play through of Pokemon Blue by using RetroArch to emulate the game. I am randomising the Pokemon in areas with similar strength so it isn't completely randomised, while choosing three starters of similar types
After Goliath got back into Cerulean city now he had seen Bill, got the S.S Anne ticket and took the detour route to quickly heal on up again, ready for the gym once more, it was first off to the poke mart to sell that nugget and buy some items.
Good thing about these nuggets is the five thousand coins they sell for which brings your spending money, right up. Not much was bought right now, mostly some more poke balls and a few other items and then he was ready to hit the gym again!
Up first and since the other trainer here was beaten previously, was a JR. Trainer saying Misty can wait and Goliath has to battle her first. It was time to see how hard the rest of Cerulean gym was going to be.
It was a battle of the Grimer's with both being at level nineteen, basically a mirror match this would be except for one thing.. Goliath's Grimer hit first with a little more speed, so with the harder hits from using pound, it was allowing him to get the victory over this last trainer so Misty can finally be challenged and that fight is going to be tougher!
With Misty now being challenged and without thinking Grimer needs healing since he has other Pokemon as well, Misty brings out Goldeen for the first choice and starts with an X Defend for a boost to its defence.
Pound wasn't doing as much damage now while the Goldeen's peck was doing a nice chunk to Grimer. It could have ended for this first pick, if it wasn't for disable getting Peck stopped and giving room to do plenty of damage to ensure the victory went to the Grimer, leaving Misty with one more Pokemon to use.
Here it comes, out comes a Blastoise and this is not the evolved form of Goliath's Squirtle, but the evolution after Wartortle so this thing could hurt due to an increase in power.. it started with water gun to bring Grimer down low before a failed disable attempt left Blastoise with full health, even after using an X Defend and then a bubblebeam to end Grimer and see Jigglypuff get brought out next.
The goal here was to ensure Blastoise was put to sleep so another Pokemon like Dratini is brought out, except the sleep was short and not so sweet and allowed Blastoise another attack, Jigglypuff's second sing worked which saw the Dratini get brought out to continue this fight.
While Blastoise was sleeping it was decided to use leer for lowering the defence a few times and for good reason. After that X Defend was used, wrap would have done minimal damage since it's defence would already be higher.
The wrapping began after it had lower defence but only once. Thunder Wave was a necessity this fight to get in first attacks and a chance for Blastoise to be fully paralysed, unable to attack on that turn it happens.
Multiple wraps were used to keep bringing the health down and among the one missed attempt, it was enough for Dratini to lose just under half of its health from Blastoise attacking but Goliath wasn't worried. One final use of wrap saw a victory over Blastoise, it was looking grim at times but using that strategy was good enough to earn that Cascade badge, plus the technical machine bubblebeam while getting Jigglypuff to level fifteen as well.
Emulator used: RetroArch with a Gameboy Colour core
ROMS: Pokemon Blue after being put through the randomiser
Saving: (Used for quick loading and for getting back to before I had all Pokemon faint, if I lose and so it is quicker.)
