Buying a Playstation 1 + 2 games as my Christmas present - Also other life updates
Guess whose back, back again?
Hi everyone, I am back or at least, I am hoping to be back soon and considering blogging about games again!
I want to aim for just 1 post a week about a game, but when possible try get in a second post about the games and stick to this more limited blogging. I miss sharing the fun I get playing games but cannot be playing multiple games at once for blogging about as I don't have the time.. so this post is about my retro collection but includes a bit of a rant about things since I have been away for months and want to update people, sharing some suffering in these harsh times, and how tough we experience things in this house this month and how unexpected costs or repayments, can drastically alter your life.
So before I get into some updates about what has been happening for me in this hiatus from blogging, to enjoy living a busy and hectic life, let me start with my self bought Christmas present, for my yearly thing I do.
Playstation 1 and games and a list of my collection

Over the years I have been building my retro gaming collection by buying a retro console for Christmas, that I can unwrap and get a bit of the old feel like when I opened consoles as a kid and it always feels good to do.
This year I bought the Playstation 1 off Ebay which came with 2 black controllers, the power and AV cables, an HDMI cable and an AV to HDMI cable as a lot of people play on monitors etc and require a converter to do so. I also bought 2 games but epic choices.. Tekken 2 which I played as a kid a lot and know has a lot of replay value and character to choose from/unlock and play, also Grand Theft Auto 2 which is a top down game but is a lot of fun, with a lot of memories playing the early GTA games as a kid and lots of replay/length value!
From the iconic PS1 loading screen, the one imprinted on my mind to the memorable games. This purchase comes with the memories and nostalgia that all retro consoles in my collection bring.

Updates about my life
Firstly I will say my son has just recently turned 3 months old, he is doing well and is feeding like I did in my early 20's and teenage years, which is a lot haha!
But he brings so much joy amongst the constant stress and issues associated with life, but so does my daughter who is soon to be 4 years old.. a bundle of joy wrapped up in mass amounts of energy and attitude and sass to rival any seasoned sass veteran.
She really just needs to keep having more attention and someone playing with her so she won't be bored, which is hard when constantly busy with a newborn or house work or working full time like I am, this brings a lot of extra stress and exhaustion. But I am focusing more on using spare time so I can play with her, give her the attention and so she enjoys having lots more fun.
Changing my lifestyle, my mindset and thought pattern to live life better
I have been re-evaluating my life as I continue to get older and now I have 2 kids for me to want a long and happy life with, that I get to see them grow up as long as I can and create those memories for them to remember me by, once I am gone one day.
My lifestyle, my mindset and my thought pattern for so long was focused on enjoying playing video games and watching things often, which slowed down a bit in my mid 30's when I had my daughter and started looking at myself more, along with my career options since I started working casual jobs and eventually getting full time work finally.
So what is now changing? Well, firstly I have cut down on games a lot more that I was focusing on using my free time for, to enjoy just playing games be it retro or new stuff, so this is helping the mental health issues around seeing my young yet aging time as I creep to 40 years old in 2 years, then onto 50 etc and who knows how much time we really have? So many things can go wrong in the world, in my life or health issues.
Finding simple yet nutritional recipe ideas that are quick and helps in a busy life. I want more healthy options in my diet and more veggies etc to help extend my life without so much crap being consumed, along with keeping water intake up like in these recent years, and I know this will become more common as it gets incorporate more commonly!
There are many factors being changed and it is a huge and tough thing to take on while having so many other issues going on to manage.. I feel like I cannot cope most days as my mental health still suffers on the best of days while trying to also provide and keep strong for the family, yet I feel happiness through it all, I see a life being lived to its fullest and a lot of memories to come for the kids while we all get to experience much more outside of the house and normal life and adult duties that are required.
Suffering through December
Both myself and my partner had made a repayment for something, that we didn't need to like hers being something already paid and now being added to the next bill, mine I had pushed back a month and this was after we needed pest control out to get rid of bird mites in the house.. the bastards left about 40+ bites all over the body and it wasn't fun. We washed the bedding, but the quilts got messed up, so almost another $150 later to buy 3 quilts along with $220 for pest control, then the repayments not needed but were made cost about $400 between them.
This has made the food situation a big struggle, using platforms paying offers for playing mobile games while searching the cupboard, freezer and chest freezer for leftovers and stuff as extra meals. We managed to mostly just scrape by.. Aldi means things are cheaper and utilising cheap meals but it has taken its toll to see everyone in the house having issues finding something to eat, with limited choices and the fact I cannot provide as much food this second half of the month. I am on a monthly payday so I am holding out for it to go in and get a heap of food from Aldi!
Small amounts into savings
I am working to save small amounts into the bank savings over the coming months, around $50 at first to utilise small compounding bits of interest, while having it change my mindset to not spend the small amount, but knowing not too much goes in where I have to withdraw.. then the few months after I am looking at $100 - $200 since more things will have been paid off and increase the compounding interest and size of savings, much more!
It looks very well preserved, perfect for collecting.
Thanks mate, they must have cleaned it up nicely or it was one of the nicer ones sent, as it was exchanged for the faulty one they accidentally sent first.
It was a small game store that sells a lot on Ebay I bought from, including a lot of these PS1 bundles that they sell.
