DAILY LIFE STORY: "Cooking Sweet Corn for Afternoon Snack"

It has been raining for almost a week. We have a typhoon here in the Philippines, Crising, and our province is one of the affected areas. We have been experiencing heavy rainfall and have been receiving warnings from the emergency alert system on our mobile phones. Due to this, classes have been suspended, and we have stayed at home for our safety.

Since everyone is in the house, from the kids up to the working adults, it’s always a challenge to think of some snacks to eat. Luckily, we just bought some corn from the local market, and that’s what we cooked for the family this afternoon.

We just put some water in the pan, along with the corn, and added a pinch of salt. Then, we cooked it at a medium heat. It took a few minutes of cooking time. But while waiting, we just watched a movie on our television. We enjoyed action movies even with the kids watching.

When we checked the corn after 30 minutes, they were good to go. We also prepared and made some coffee to accompany the snack, making it even more perfect this afternoon. We shared them with the family, as well as the kids. They love corn so much that they even requested us to buy more in the next few days. We promised we would once the rain had calmed down, and we could go to the local market again.
