Very cool, yeah community-run infra around the world is very important.
It's tricky with ASIC-mined coins though, as mining infra inherently centralizes.

This is very true. I have to look into the less efficient 'home' miners mostly because the big boys are just too power hungry and expensive. The home miners I can also subsidize with solar power so the power costs are less at least.
Do they get you anything?
The DOGE/LTC miners do pretty decent. 400W and gets 700mh/s. I haven't gone down the little nerdaxe hole yet, lol. I just try to find good deals on older lower powered miners and wrap them in solar.
Cool, good to hear that individual mining still brings income.
