Apparently, businesses in El Salvador are refusing to do business with Bitcoiners, full stop.

Run into the average Bitcoin maxi, and you'll understand.

Creating a government-mandated amusement park for spoiled, obnoxious foreign tourists can breed resentment.

I grew up in Mexico as a very light-skinned, English-speaking person with an American mother. I sometimes felt hostility, discrimination, and even racial slurs directed at me as a kid.

The power asymmetry dynamics between tourists and expats in Latin America, and the local populace, breeds resentment: they need the money, but want to be treated like human beings and have their culture respected.

The legal tender LARP probably brought in some of the most insufferable that the gringo world has to offer, powered by one of the most annoying-to-use technologies in the world. Was it good for the country? Probably. It brought a lot of money in.

Not everyone may be happy with the deal though.

My wife is from a small town in Colorado and of Indian and Spanish (not Latam) descent and got grief from everyone at school. The whites because she wasn't pure white and the mexicans because she wasn't one of them! She loves it here in Scotland as she is now treated like a local!

Interestingly enough, when I visited Scotland, my girlfriend at the time was Japanese, and got called "yellow" by random locals.

Damn that is pathetic and sorry to hear. However different areas of Scotland and nasty to other areas. I have been called many a name and worse when I have ventured to areas that have different religion to me!

That was Edinburgh, right by the castle. Ducked into a small pub to use the toilet.
