Some Gold and Silver from Saturn's Moon Titan (Sort Of)

What a Monday for all of us Bitcoin holders! Finally breaking through that $100,000 barrier again and hopefully for good this time. It would be nice to see a shot past the moon, maybe to Saturn?

As a kid I grew up watching the old reruns of the original Star Trek TV show and saw the Star Wars movies n the theater. I always dreamed of travelling through space, but like most of us I was born too soon to see interstellar travel. As I was browsing some of the new coin options produced by the island nation of Niue I came across some new coins that made me think back to those dreams as kid. To stand on another planet or moon and look out into space.

The new coins that are being produced for 2025 have a view of the planet Saturn from it's moon Titan. These are really pretty coins and produced for us want to astronauts. They have one in gold and one in silver, although I kind of like the gold version because of the colors! Have a look:

Version in gold:

APMEX.com

Version in silver:

piecesof8.org

Both of these coins are one Troy ounce of either gold of silver at .9999 purity of each. The minting is limited to 99 of the gold and 999 of the the silver. They are colorized which for me is usually a huge turnoff, but these actually came out kind of cool. The sky color is so different between the two, I kind of like the gold one more with the red sky, I'm not sure why. My only big disappointment is the obverse of the coin with the monarch, I'm not a huge fan of monarchs on modern coins. That's just me, I'm sure other people love it!

I think the either of these coins will appreciate in value with time, especially the gold with such a low mintage. All of us who grew up watching Star Trek and Star Wars are very likely buyers, and I think it will sell out pretty quickly. The gold one isn't in my budget ($3,695), but I'll try to pick up a silver one ($115) as it's a lot less expensive and I'm not rich enough to buy an ounce of gold at the moment.

And now some information on the celestial bodies displayed on the coins:

Titan

nai.nasa.gov
Infared image of Titan by the Cassini Spacecraft

Titan is Saturn's largest moon and is obscured by a thick atmosphere of nitrogen and methane with hydrocarbons causing a dense haze. Until the Cassini spacecraft took infared images of the moon we knew relatively little about it. As it turns out it has oceans of water mixed with ammonia, and a rocky/ icy land surface. Overall it is the most earthlike celestial body in the solar system, but temperatures are much colder at 94 Kelvin (-179 C, -290 F). Too cold for my blood...

Saturn

apod.nasa.gov

Saturn is the sixth planet in our solar system and is composed of a rocky core surrounded by gas. It's considered a gas giant much like Jupiter. One of the most prominent features are it's rings, composed of ice and dust. It's atmosphere is primarily hydrogen and to a lesser extent helium. As a kid I remember being fascinated by it's rings and colors. Turns out the colors were not quite as vibrant as I had believed when Cassini took some clear pictures.

Maybe one day we'll be able to travel out to these places as a species. But I think most of us will be long since gone sadly...

That will wrap up today's post. Just seeing those coins does bring me back to dreaming as a kid of being on another planet or moon. What awesome coins even with the colorization! If you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them below. Thank you so much for all of your support everyone, I truly do appreciate it. Have a great week everyone!

With good reason to be tired of him... I was glad to see the push back above 100K!

These coins are pretty cool, I wish I had the extra cash for the gold version!

That is a nice coin my friend, love to see Saturn with its ring, really nice depiction considering we have never been to its moon to have a view over Saturn. ; )

Some cool coins. To be a kid again and dream of space travel. I too watched many of the original Star Trek TV shows and seen the movies on the big screen. There are not many left of the original crew.

It was a cool show! Shatner is in his nineties now, not many left at all. I keep hoping they can get a new Star Trek movie green lit, but so far nothing!

How's your car holding up with the suspension problem?

I liked the old ones I never got into the later series. Yeah Shatner holding strong and he's still doing things!

No more hick-ups with the car. Hoping it stays that way.

I hope so too, you've had some rough luck with cars the last few weeks! And you need yours for your side hussle!

That's really cool and nicely done. I've always been a star trek fan too. I've seen every movie in the theater since the second one.

When I saw the coin I just wanted to buy one, especially the gold one. But it's out of my budget right now. I've seen most of the movies in the theater as well, and was a big fan of the New Generation series and movies. I few years back I heard that Quentin Tarantino wanted to direct a Star Trek film and even had a script but didn't happen. That could have really interesting, an R rated Star Trek!

Yes, I was really looking forward to see what Tarantino could do with the franchise. The new shows on Paramount network have been pretty good. I'm looking forward to the next season of strange new worlds.

That would have been awesome, but Tarantino says he's retiring. We'll see if it sticks!

There'd be plenty of moon subjects to mint a huge astronomical theme collection of coins but will anyone buy them let alone try to make a set in the hundreds if not more?

That's always the big question, is there enough demand to warrant the production. When humans are again walking on the moon it may draw interest to a huge new line of coins. The next moon landing will probably happen in the next three years, only question is which country will make it first?

Yesterday I thought about to buy a physical HIVE coin. I know that there were some in the past... Somebody made them... I searched about, but couldn't find them. Do you have an idea how I could find one?

Greetings! Hive a great day!

The gold version of the Saturn coin is such a beauty to behold. I think that's how gold just gives value to things. As for BTC, again, it has headed into that psychological level where people are bullish once more

I love the gold one too, just something about that red sky and of the course the gold... I love gold, it's such a pretty metal! BTC is hanging in about one hundred thousand still, I'm hoping we can see support and keep it there!

Perhaps I can get my hands on some of these precious metals. Gold shines truly, and apart from the beauty, the incentive of holding it makes it even more beautiful.

The smaller coins and bars are affordable, one tenth and ounce or less. Buying a full ounce these days is just too expensive!

King Charles put the correct Face Value on the Gold Coin, but the Silver Coin needs to read Ten Dollars, for the 10 to 1 Silver/Gold Ratio, during Phase 1 of the Reset... Wait until you see what happens to the Face Values of our Silver Coins, in Phase 2 and 3 of the Reset...

Hmmm... nice to have, it must be expensive! It is colorized !LOL
I'll settle for the Disney coins, and probably Star Wars.
Thank you for the info on Titan and Saturn, @thebighigg !

I'm not a huge fan of colorized either, but this one looks unique and I kind of like it! I may pick up a silver one of these buy gold is way too expensive. I love Disney coins too, and after seeing all the nice stuff you've added to your stack lately I'm thinking maybe it's time to pick some up too! Disney always appreciates, that I have learned!
