Silver Peace Dollar from Philadelphia, Silver Hits $66!

It's another morning of dense fog here in Orange County. That's alright by me since I don't have to be anywhere in particular today. Working out of home sure does have it's advantages! I've taken a few days off of posting, part of it because I have been busy, the other being I've worn out to be honest. But such is life...

Rather than talk about crypto today which is really ugly. I thought it might fun to share some silver from my silver stack. Today's is a Peace Dollar I picked up as part of a deal on multiple coins from a private seller some years ago. Although not the prettiest coin as it has some wear and tear, that's kind of what I like about it. I love thinking about all of the hands it passed through over the years and what it may have been used to buy. It could have been used in a illegal speakeasy to buy booze or maybe even a brothel... You never know where a 103 year old coin might have been!

About the Coin:

From numista.com

This coin was minted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a place dear to me as it once was my home for a few years. In it's current state it's probably worth around $78, and the silver bullion value in the coin is $50.45. I love Peace Dollars as they are very beautiful coins and I have always loved collecting them. Morgan Dollars will always be my favorite due to the detailing, but this one is a close second!

If you don't own a Peace Dollar it's a great investment, and a beautiful piece of history!

Silver

Even though the price of silver receive a smack down last week, it continues to surge on shortages. It's gone over $66 per Troy ounce which is an all time high. They really can't refine it fast enough to keep up with demand, that translates to higher and higher prices. We may be looking at $70 silver by Christmas at this rate. Fortunately I bought a lot in the 90's for $7 and still have it, the good old days...

It's important to remember that silver is not only used in investment products, but is an industrial metal. As a matter of fact the device you're using right now has silver in it as do most consumer electronics these days. It's also used world wide in X-ray films, and massive amounts and used annually in the world of medicine. It's a metal that it is in demand, and always will be. It's always a great investment for anyone!

silver over the last five days from kitcom.com

Just a side note about gold, it continues to run about $4350 per Troy ounce, just fifty dollars off the all time high which is sure to be beaten in the near future once again. I have noticed over the last few days that my HBD yield on my TGLD tokens has been higher. On further investigation the APR yield is up to 17.5% for new purchases that are staked, in my case 29.5% as I purchased in the early presale. The nice thing is it's paid in HBD and not Hive since it's suffering mightily right now (price wise.)

That will do it today's post, I do hope you enjoyed the Peace Dollar. They sure are pretty coins even with a bit of wear and tear. Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and as always thank you for all of the support. It's greatly appreciated! Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Ah man for real? You shouldn't have even said anything about crypto! I've been busy doing other stuff and I didn't even notice that the price had went back down again. Ugh!

Silver certainly is hitting amazing all-time highs my friend!!😀
It really didn't hit me, until someone online said that it's more than a barrel of oil!!😇💪

Weird to think a barrel of oil is cheaper than an ounce of silver... Things are changing in the world!

Especially going into winter, you would think oil would be at a premium!🙄
Looks like gold and silver are still ramping up in price! I can still hear my neighbor telling me she is "smarter than that"....... "I get rid of all of my Gold and silver as quick as I can!"
She listens intently to her financial planner .....Lol🙄😇😆

The precious metals price trajectory driven my the insatiable industrial and investment demand more than makes up for my crypto winter angst.
However, I enjoy being on Hive and planned to stay as long as I can. A significant part of my retirement life is being active in the Hive community despite my medical challenges.
I'm slowly swapping my HBD for Hive
My New Years Hive power up will be a big one.

The precious metals do make up for the crypto decline, so there is that one bright spot right now. HBD prices have been suffering today, struggling to keep at a dollar despite selling Hive every few minutes to do so. Maybe that swap is a good one!

Hopefully next year will treat us better!

The Peace dollar is such a nice design. Too bad it had such a short run. Silver can’t be held down now…..

It really was sad that it had such a short run, instead of the Ike it would have been nice to see them bring this one back. But politicians were suddenly more important that Liberty... Silver is going to keep on climbing!

The edge has a smooth look about it… Is it a real Peace Dollar…???

It is, just a head on view! This one comes from my older pictures that I've got stored away. Originally they were for insurance purposes, and I keep them just in case even though my policy doesn't require it currently.

Wow, that Philadelphia Peace Dollar is absolutely stunning, such a beautiful piece of history. I've got a few 1921 Morgan Dollars in my collection. And whenever I can, I'm add some American Eagles. It's not just about the beauty; with gold, it's real money that holds value and something meaningful we can pass down to our kids and grandkidss.

They are beautiful coins, one of the prettiest the US Mint ever made. American Eagles are great to own as they are real money, just as is gold! Both are a great way to build personal wealth to pass on the future generations, I couldn't agree more!

I just bought a Gold Maple Leaf coin too. I absolutely love their beauty, sometimes I can sit alone all day just playing with them (gold and silver coins) 🥰

It really is sad to see, and HBD is struggling to keep at a dollar today. Precious metals are a great place to invest.

Hopefully those shallots make you some nice profits!

There’s something extra meaningful about a coin when it connects to a place you once called home, and a Philadelphia-minted Peace Dollar carries that kind of weight. The premium over melt makes sense too, because you’re not just buying silver, you’re buying history, artistry, and a design that still holds up a century later. Morgans may win on detail and nostalgia, but Peace Dollars have a cleaner elegance that feels timeless. For anyone who doesn’t own one yet, it really is one of those pieces that checks every box. Beauty, history, and solid intrinsic value all in one coin.

Peace Dollars are just elegant and beautiful, by far one of the prettiest coins the US had ever produced. I agree, these are great coins to own, and not too expensive if the more common years. Granted with silver being as high as it is nothing silver is cheap anymore!

Silver Gold Stackers can be joined by sharing some silver or gold items a few times a week. Or if you don't have a stack even sharing items you might like to invest in as I do from time to time. Just use the silvergoldstackers tag and after a period of time you can get nominated for membership and a moderator just has to approve it after. It does take some time, around a month for most. It took me two or three months for some reason but I finally got in! lol
