Another Nineties Friday with Aladdin, and Some Great 90's Music

Friday has finally arrived, it seems like it's been a long week and I'm glad it's over. I hope you all had a great week and that this weekend treats you even better! I wasn't sure if I would have time to get anything put together today as I have been pretty busy, but I still managed to throw a little something together. I do hope you enjoy!

Since it's Friday again it's time for another edition of Nineties Friday. For those unfamiliar with it, this is an event that comes around each Friday where you can create a post to share just about anything from the 1990's. It's a lot of fun, just use the tag #ninetiesfriday and it's never a bad idea to do a shoutout to @geneeverett . He started the event and someone usually walks away with some prizes!

To get started I found this really cool coin on APMEX.com, and it reminded me of the great Disney movie Aladdin from 1992. Have a look at this nice 2 Troy ounce silver coin from the tropical paradise of Niue:

APMEX.com

This is a limited series coin of only five hundred minted. There is a huge catch though, the price is way too high at $269.99. As much as I like it, way outside of my price range... But it is two ounces of silver, which is getting more expensive day by day. When I checked a few minutes ago it was at $43 per Troy ounce!

Aladdin (1992)

tallypress.com

This was the "good" Aladdin animated film starring the legend Robin Williams. Disney then tried to ruin in with a live version starring Will Smith, what a shame... I loved the original animated film, back when Disney still know how to make quality films. I do hope they get back to those days but I am losing hope very quickly.

At any rate, this was one of the best animated films of the 90's. Here's the original trailer:

Now for some music from the decade, it some good stuff today!

Alice In Chains

Coming together in 1987 in Seattle, Washington these guys helped bring the grunge movement to world along side with Nirvana and Soundgarden. Although they were heavier and darker, they produced some amazing music. Their first album was a huge seller, and their second was no different and was called Dirt. This song comes from that album and is called "Rooster".

Live

Coming out of York, Pennsylvania in 1987 this band took their time making it to the top of the charts. Their first two albums had some modest success but in 1994 everything changed with the release of the mega hit Throwing Copper. One of the biggest hits off of that album was this song, one of my favorites, "Lightning Crashes".

Soundgarden

Formed in 1984 in Seattle, Washington and fronted by the talented Chris Cornell, they helped bring the grunge movement out of Seattle along with Alice In Chains and Nirvana. They established themselves in the mainstream music scene in 1990 and upon the release of Badmotorfinger in 1991 they became one of the biggest bands around. This comes off that album and is called "Outshined".

Green Day

Formed in Rodeo, California in 1987 this punk band helped bring the punk movement into the 1990's. In 1994 their album Dookie made them one of the biggest bands in the world. This comes off that same album and is called "Basket Case".

The Offspring

Formed in 1984 in Garden Grove, California (just down the road from where I live) these guys took a long time to make it big. They finally broke into the mainstream music scene in 1994 with the release of their huge album Smash. This song comes off their 1997 album Ixnay on the Hombre and is called "Gone Away".

That will wrap up my post for this Friday. I hope you enjoyed it and please feel free to leave any comments or questions below. Thank you everyone for all of your support, it really is greatly appreciated. Have a great weekend everyone!

!LOLZ I have never imagine that ALadin already that old, it seems like it is the cartoon from the 2000, or 2010, as it feels like yesterday.

My boss has the same last name as the lead singer of LIVE. I always tease him that he is secretly that guy... That piece is sweet! I love Aladdin. It was one of my favorites. I have the soundtrack on CD still and I have it memorized.

I really like that silver, but it is expensive! Aladdin was a great movie, such a shame we lost Robin Williams so young... If you're boss were secretly that guy from Live he would have a lot more money, that's for sure! lol

Haha, you are probably right! Yes, it was so sad that we lost Robin.

All the 90's posts remind me that I'm an old man... I was alive in the 1970's... dang. Reality sucks!

I was too! I'm not as young as I once was to say the least... I miss being 25 and even 40 at this point! lol

Not me, born in 84 here, but I wish I was born a decade or two sooner! So I could see all the great bands I missed in the eighties & early nineties at least! !LADY !ALIVE !PIZZA

Very detailed 2 ounce silver Aladdin coin!👍😊
I’m usually not a fan of “colorized” coins but this one is stunning!
The Reverse is just as beautiful!👍
Alas, the only problem is the premium……🙄

Isn't it a cool coin? I'm not a fan of the colors usually either, but they did a good job on this one! The price is a killer, but then again, if silver hits $100 an ounce it may seem like a bargain in retrospect. Still, I'm not making the gamble!

$43.13 for Silver on Kitco today it certainly is going up!💪😊

T&S Coin products are cool but their product line are very niche for the pure collector with deeper pockets than mine. The Black Diamond coin among the few that were the closest to thinking about it until after common sense bought me back to reality.
We walk a mighty fine line between Stacking and collecting.

Exactly, a very fine line... If silver were to skyrocket to $100 in retrospect this might be a steal, but I'm not making that gamble! There are things I buy to collect, and I'm willing to invest more premium there because I enjoy them. But when it's not something I'm in love with there's no way I'm paying that premium!

Now a gold escudo off of the Atocha, there I would pay a huge premium. But it would be collecting not stacking! lol

Reminds me of all the grunge lead singers that have passed too early.

Way too many of those... Maybe the depressing Seattle weather had something to do with their mental health when they were young? I've always wondered why so many took their own lives or overdosed...

Good point, probably had something to do with it. I know, that does effect my moods.

A tribute to the 90s, and yet I still found new things for myself hahaha. I had never heard that Alice In Chains song before, and I didn't know the band Live! In fact, I'm pretty sure I never saw the music video for Outshined. This post has been gold for me!!!! I'm glad to say hi and see that you're doing well, celebrating and sharing your passion for the '90s. I've been busy, but I haven't forgotten my Hivean friends! Big hugs to you! ❤️

Great representation of the nineties. Aladdin I didn't really get into but I stayed in the hotel in Vegas in the nineties. A good stay but like many it has been torn down. That coin is really cool but the price tag makes it better to see on your blog not in my hand, haha. All the bands you list I had one or more CDs 💿 of, I don't think I had cassettes, hehe. These were very much my tune selections maybe a little bit of heavy metal as well. I was going to list my favorites among them but there is too many. A few others I liked that would fit in our Jane's Addiction and STP!

I stayed in the Aladdin too back in the day. The old one they demolished to become the Aladdin resort but now Planet Hollywood... Nothing stays the same in Vegas for too long! I did go a little heavier metal in the first ones, but I've always like some good heavy metal. Jane's Addiction and STP were both awesome! Good old CD's, I have boxes full of them still. All he cassette tapes are long gone, which is a shame, they might be valuable these days!

I would love to have the silver though, too bad it's so expensive. But with silver going up like it is maybe you would be in the money on it in a few years. The dollar certainly isn't getting any stronger with our national debt...

How's work been treating you?

Work has been insane lately. The more that goes on in the world the more busier I am most of the time at my full-time job. I thought the whole DOGE thing was over but it still lurks in other forms..Delivery driving has been hit or miss. A lot of new models are being tested but its all the same it favors the company more than the drivers. Its really about them getting drivers to take more orders so they can make more profit. Going on a rant haha its a bit frustrating for many more reasons. Take care

I love the Disney Alladin animated film! I remember my Mom and Dad were very supportive of the things I am into.
That coin has lots of detail, and it's very pretty! But it's important to stay within your stacking goals, @thebighigg!
