A Guitar Driven Three Tune Tuesday!

Every Tuesday for more than a year now I have been participating in Three Tune Tuesday. Today will be no exception, but first I thought I might chime in on the crypto markets today. I was ecstatic to see BTC push through one hundred thousand dollars once again. Well, this morning it had another surprise for me. Looks like some profit taking pushed things back down unfortunately.

On the brighter side, Hive continues to hold strong at just above sixty cents. I hope this push continues, it nice to see Hive way above the mid teens where it was not all that many months ago!

This morning I really had no idea what I was going to share this week, which happens more often than not as of late. I proceeded to listen to some music on a few other people's Three Tune Tuesday posts and I came across the one by @bozz . It was an Italian group playing acoustic guitar versions of some classic rock, one of them being from the band Deep Purple. That got me thinking maybe some early seventies rock might be fun. I listened to a Deep Purple song and the next song on the playlist was ZZ Top. That sealed the deal!

I've always been a ZZ Top fan since I first heard them as kid in the 1980's. They have a unique rock/ blues sound that is very Texas in nature. They formed as a band in 1969 in Houston, Texas with lead guitarist/ vocals Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill on bass/ vocals, and Frank Beard on drums. They were unmistakable as Gibbons and Hill both had long beards, wore hats, and wore dark sunglasses. This lineup lasted 51 years until Hill passed away suddenly in 2021. In the music world today that's unheard of...

Today I'll share three cool songs from the legendary trio. Much of their great music was from the seventies which was before my time, but I've enjoyed listening to their old albums. They have a great sound! First up I think we'll kick things off with a song from their 1975 album "Fandango". This song is one of the few where Hill takes up the lead vocals, it's called "Tush":

Next up I thought I might fast forward in time into the 1980's when I first heard them. In 1983 they released the album "Eliminator" packed with some great songs. As MTV was pretty new at the time they took advantage by making catchy videos. They were already rock legends but this boosted them to new heights. This one is called "Gimme All Your Lovin'":

Last up I'm making a pick from their 1973 album "Tres Hombres" (Three Men), the leadoff song on the album is "Waitin' for the Bus" but it leads right into "Jesus Left Chicago" and the two are almost always played together. This live version is from 2010 some 37 years after the original was released, but they still knew how to rock!
