🇺🇸 ~ In recent weeks, in my spare time, I have had a lot of fun altering both new and “old” clothes. I have family and friends who travel abroad, so from time to time I receive gifts such as imported clothes, and I also have family and friends who, like everyone else, keep clothes that they no longer like or that no longer fit them, but which they find difficult to part with: And since I am “that person who sews beautifully” in their lives, they remember me as the ideal destination for these garments.

This particular jumpsuit made me very sad when I realized it didn't fit me. In fact, it was tight in all the wrong places (the elastic didn't even reach the right height on my waist).
Este enterizo en particular me dio mucha tristeza cuando comprobé que no me quedaba, de hecho era ajustado en todas las partes equivocadas (el elástico ni siquiera llegaba a la altura correcta de mi cintura).
But when I touched it, oh, the fabric is soft and textured, somewhat transparent. It was impossible not to fall in love with that fabric, so I chose to be brave and unpicked it almost completely.
Pero al tocarlo, ay, la tela es suave y texturizada, algo transparente, era imposible no enamorarte de esa tela y por eso escogí ser valiente y lo descocí casi completamente.
At first, I tried to make a long dress, but the lining gave me a lot of trouble, and the result was strange/ugly, so I chose to make a set of a top, skirt, and scrunchie to use as a bracelet. My favorite part was making the skirt. To construct it, I cut the pants and joined them into one very long piece.
Al inicio intenté hacer un vestido largo, pero el forro me dio muchos problemas y el resultado era extraño/feo, por eso escogí hacer un conjunto de top, falda y scrunchie para utilizar como pulsera (mi parte favorita fue hacer la falda, para construirla corté los pantalones y los uní es una sola pieza muy larga).
Currently, this project is incomplete, as you can see in the photos: I still need to make the hems and buy some 5 cm wide elastic to finish the waistband, and I'm thinking of adding some bows on both sides, which is a detail that is very fashionable today, but I think I'll make them removable.
Actualmente este proyecto esta incompleto como puedes ver en las fotos: Me falta hacer los ruedos y comprar algo de elástico de 5 cm de ancho para terminar la pretina, y estoy pensando agregarle unos lazos a ambos lados, que es un detalle que esta muy de moda hoy, pero los haré desmontables creo.

Since I have to wait to buy elastic to finish the top, I continued taking apart these men's jeans that belonged to my brother. Since he started going to the gym a few years ago, his clothing size has changed, and that's how this piece ended up in “my box of clothes to alter.” I was thinking of recycling all the fabric into a single tote bag, BUT I want about three more denim maxi skirts in my closet, and this was the perfect opportunity: I learned from the previous skirt project that the cut of the legs is straight, folding the pants at the sides, not at the front, so that when you “reconnect the pieces,” everything fits perfectly without any strange bulges. It fits like a glove! This project is almost finished. I just need to cover up some holes in the back caused by wear and tear with some pretty patches. These holes were where the heel of the foot was when the pants were pants.

[SPANISH VERSION] Como tengo que esperar a comprar el elástico para terminar el conjunto de arriba continué desarmando este jean de caballero que perteneció a mi hermano, como él empezó a ir al gimnasio hace unos años su talla de ropa ha cambiado y así llegó esta pieza a "mi caja de ropa por modificar." Pensaba reciclar toda la tela en 1 solo totebag PERO quiero en mi closet unas 3 maxi faldas mas de tela denim y esta fue la oportunidad perfecta: Aprendí del proyecto anterior de falda que el corte de las piernas es recto, doblando el pantalón en sus laterales, no en su frente, y así cuando "re conectas las piezas" todo calza perfecto y sin bolsas extrañas. ¡Me queda como un guante!, este es un proyecto casi terminado, me falda cerrar con unos parches bonitos unos agujeros por desgaste en la parte de detrás, que correspondían al talón del pie cuando era un pantalón.

Y el proyecto que terminé ayer domingo por la tarde es esta transformación de braga corta a blusa con aberturas y lacitos a los lados con parte inferior redondeada.
Para esta prenda me inspire en algunas imágenes de Pinterest y tambien tome como ejemplo el diseño de algunas prendas asiáticas donde tanto blusas como vestidos lucen esos bonitos finales redondos en lugar de cuadrados.
Esta pieza es mía y la compré hace mucho tiempo en un almacén popular de mi ciudad que vende ropa económica, creo me costo 2$ y solo quedaban tallas X y XS; la use bastante y hasta tiene algunas manchas de salpicaduras de cloro, hoy me queda muy ajustada porque se encogió o yo engordé algo (?) 😢 pero me gusta mucho y no quería botarla ni regalarla.
Pronto cuando salga de compras por materiales (especialmente el elástico para terminar la falda) compraré tambien tintura para telas para teñir esta blusa de vino tinto o verde oscuro, también quiero comprar otros tintes para experimentar desde casa con nuevas modificaciones de ropa 👏 😊 he pasado un rato agradable cosiendo y experimentando sin grandes expectativas.
And the project I finished yesterday afternoon is this transformation from shorts to a blouse with slits and bows on the sides and a rounded bottom.
For this garment, I was inspired by some images on Pinterest, and I also took as an example the design of some Asian garments where both blouses and dresses have those pretty rounded ends instead of square ones.
This piece is mine and I bought it a long time ago in a popular store in my city that sells inexpensive clothing. I think it cost me $2 and they only had sizes X and XS left. I wore it a lot and it even has some chlorine stains. Today it fits me very tightly because it shrunk or I gained some weight (?) 😢 but I really like it and didn't want to throw it away or give it away.
Soon, when I go shopping for materials (especially elastic to finish the skirt), I will also buy fabric dye to dye this blouse red wine or dark green. I also want to buy other dyes to experiment at home with new clothing modifications 👏 😊 I had a nice time sewing and experimenting without high expectations.
