🇪🇸 ~ ¡Hoy por fin pude terminar este pequeño proyecto de costura!, he tenido mucho tiempo para reflexionar sobre lo mucho que pueden cambiar nuestros tiempos de creación a medida que avanzamos en edad, digo, si eres alguien que cose o craftea como pasatiempo (o terapia) y no como alguien que se dedica a la costura para vivir.

🇺🇸 ~ Today I finally finished this little sewing project! I've had a lot of time to reflect on how much our creative habits can change as we get older, I mean, if you're someone who sews or crafts as a hobby (or therapy) and not as someone who does sewing for a living.

He pensado mucho en una versión de mi que hubiera elegido dedicar el 100% de su atención y energías a coser, es decir, ¿cómo hubiera podido hacerlo mi fuente principal de ingresos?, ¿mis piezas tendrían los estándares de calidad necesarios para ser algo que otros querrían comprar?, ¿qué cantidad de cosas hubiera podido aprender a crear en ese camino?, es increíble la capacidad que podemos tener de sentir nostalgia o extrañar algo que nunca fuimos.

I have thought a lot about a version of myself who would have chosen to devote 100% of her attention and energy to sewing. That is, how could I have made it my main source of income? Would my pieces meet the quality standards necessary for others to want to buy them? How many things could I have learned to create along the way?, it's incredible how we can feel nostalgia or longing for something we never were.

Pero no llego al punto de idealizar esa vida, porque tengo claro que la vida de los artistas textiles esta llena de sacrificios, trabajo duro, altos riesgos e incertidumbre, son artistas que no la tienen fácil, y por eso me causan tanto respeto, fascinación y sincera curiosidad.

But I don't go so far as to idealize that life, because I am well aware that the life of textile artists is full of sacrifice, hard work, high risks, and uncertainty. They are artists who don't have it easy, and that is why I have so much respect, fascination, and sincere curiosity for them.

Este pequeño proyecto estuvo desarmado mirándome desde una esquina por días, ningún momento se sentía como el correcto para retomarlo, no se ya si será el "síndrome del impostor" o que realmente no he tenido tiempo para la costura recreativa; también podría ser el efecto psicológico y anímico de las fallas del servicio eléctrico, se ha ido casi todos los días por un estándar de 4 horas... y si no hay electricidad, no hay iluminación, y mucho menos máquina de coser.

This little project lay dismantled in the corner staring at me for days. No moment felt like the right time to pick it up again. I don't know if it's “impostor syndrome” or if I really haven't had time for recreational sewing. It could also be the psychological and emotional effect of the power outages, which have been happening almost every day for an average of four hours... and if there is no electricity, there is no lighting, let alone the possibility of turning on the sewing machine.

Desde la última actualización hace 9 días lo que faltaba para terminar esta headdress fue: Instalar los lazos, coser algunas cintas de encaje a los lados, junto a las costuras completas de las cintas principales, agregar cinta elástica con sus respectivos broches, y pegar una cubierta final de fieltro color claro con un par de pinzas pequeñas para el cabello.

Since the last update 9 days ago all that was left to finish this headdress was: Attaching the bows, sewing some lace ribbons to the sides, along with the complete seams of the main ribbons, adding elastic ribbon with its respective clasps, and gluing a final light-colored felt cover with a pair of small hair clips.
