🇪🇸 ~ Bienvenido Febrero, el que me gusta considerar el primer "mes creativo del año", se acerca el día de los enamorados y también carnavales, la resaca de fin de año ya esta superada y miro mi cuaderno con notas de proyectos de costura pendientes, los que son por gusto y los experimentales.

🇺🇸 ~ Welcome February, which I like to consider the first “creative month of the year.” Valentine's Day and Carnival are approaching, the New Year's hangover is over, and I look at my notebook with notes on pending sewing projects, both those I enjoy and the experimental ones.

Los "proyectos por gusto" son todas esas ideas que quisiera replicar o re-adaptar a partir del trabajo de otros artistas textiles/marcas de ropa-decoración-accesorios.

Los "proyectos experimentales" son todas aquellas cosas que quiero crear de las que tengo pocos o ningún punto de partida.

En ambos casos se que a pesar de que tome medidas y haga patrones desde cero, no sabré si el ítem realmente quedara bien o no (o si cumplirá la función para la que se supone esta destinado) a menos que genere prototipos.

Y a mi me encanta crear prototipos, pero esas primeras pruebas toman mas tiempo del que te puedes imaginar y a lo único que le temo mientras preparo los materiales y hago cortes aquí y allá, es que mi motivación desaparezca, cosa que pocas veces me ha pasado, pero sucede.

A veces he perdido la motivación en un proyecto por no poder conseguir el tiempo libre suficiente para dedicarme a el, y me hace sentir mal esa caja de cosas a medio terminar o pequeñas torres de tela bonita cortada que nunca empecé a unir.

“Fun projects” are all those ideas that I would like to replicate or adapt from the work of other textile artists or clothing, decoration, and accessory brands.

“Experimental projects” are all those things I want to create but have little or no starting point for.

In both cases, I know that even if I take measurements and make patterns from scratch, I won't know if the item will actually look good or not (or if it will fulfill the function for which it is intended) unless I make prototypes.

And I love creating prototypes, but those first tests take more time than you can imagine, and the only thing I fear while I prepare the materials and make cuts here and there is that my motivation will disappear, which has rarely happened to me, but it does happen.

Sometimes I've lost motivation on a project because I couldn't find enough free time to devote to it, and that box of half-finished things or little towers of cut fabric that I never got around to putting together makes me feel bad.

Hoy quiero compartirles este actual proyecto de costura, que junto al ItaBag temático de Hive, es uno en el que me ha costado mucho lograr avances a pesar de su simpleza.

Las "Headdress Lolita" tienen su ciencia -como toda pieza de costura hermosa aparentemente simple de construir- pero siempre me han parecido muy divertidas de coser; esta por ejemplo es un tipo que siempre he querido intentar, completamente de color blanco y con doble decoración.

En las fotos -que no tienen edición- se puede notar los diferentes cambios de luz dependiendo el día y la hora en que he podido sentarme a coser, incluso en un punto me rendí y simplemente empecé a coser todo a mano en lugar de usar mi máquina de coser porque preparar la mesa de costura toma tiempo.

Today I want to share with you this current sewing project, which, along with the Hive-themed ItaBag, is one that I have struggled to make progress on despite its simplicity.

“Lolita Headdresses” have their own science—like any beautiful piece of sewing that appears simple to construct—but I've always found them very fun to sew. This one, for example, is a type I've always wanted to try, completely white and with double decoration.

In the photos—which are unedited—you can see the different changes in light depending on the day and time I was able to sit down to sew. At one point, I even gave up and simply started sewing everything by hand instead of using my sewing machine because setting up the sewing table takes time.

Esta noche estaré cosiendo un poco mas hasta que me de sueño, he estado viendo la serie de "The Great" desde la semana pasada, voy por la 2da temporada y la dirección de vestuario es muy hermosa, estoy un poco cansada de los podcast + las noticias sobre política (de pronto todo me suena reciclado o repetitivo) y esta serie es una comedia extrañísima que de a ratos me entretiene o me espanta.

¿Tu que miras o escuchas para acompañar los ratos donde puedes coser?, ¿te cuesta trabajo encontrar tiempo libre para tus proyectos de costura?, no voy al ritmo que me gustaría pero creo que lo estoy haciendo bien.

Tonight I'll be sewing a little more until I get sleepy. I've been watching the series “The Great” since last week. I'm on season 2, and the costume design is beautiful. I'm a little tired of podcasts and political news (suddenly everything sounds recycled or repetitive to me), and this series is a very strange comedy that sometimes entertains me and sometimes scares me.

What do you watch or listen to while you sew? Do you find it difficult to find free time for your sewing projects? I'm not progressing as quickly as I would like, but I think I'm doing well.
