La técnica original emplea materiales específicos como laca urushi, polvo de oro, plata, o mica. Mi forma de aplicar esta técnica es con materiales mas simples o de mas fácil acceso para las personas de Occidente, y aunque el resultado no es tan sólido y perfecto como la técnica original, creo que puedes obtener un hermoso resultado para restaurar piezas de exhibición.

The original technique uses specific materials such as urushi lacquer, gold dust, silver, or mica. My approach to applying this technique involves simpler materials that are more readily available to people in the West, and although the result is not as solid and perfect as the original technique, I believe you can achieve a beautiful result when restoring display pieces.

🔵 Para comenzar vamos a tomar las partes del plato y limpiar toda la superficie con un algodón humedecido con alcohol, y si tiene manchas o adherencias que no logran quitarse de esta forma, llena el envase de plástico con agua y agrega un poco de jabón en polvo, revuelve el agua hasta que este ligeramente jabonosa, y sumerge las piezas de cerámica por 1 hora; luego enjuaga las piezas frotando con una esponja en círculos hasta que este totalmente limpio, y deja finalmente las piezas en una superficie limpia hasta que sequen.

🔵 Cuando estén las piezas totalmente secas y limpias, agrega pegamento epoxi o silicón liquido en las zonas necesarias para unir el plato, espera a que el pegamento seque ligeramente, no mas de 120 segundos, y une todo.

🔵 Deja reposar la pieza al menos 6 horas, y con mucho cuidado retira los excedentes de pegamento con un trocito pequeño de algodón y mas alcohol. No uses solventes en piezas como estas, que indican estar pintadas a mano porque el químico disolverá la tintura.

🟠 To begin, take the parts of the dish and clean the entire surface with a cotton ball moistened with alcohol. If there are stains or adhesions that cannot be removed this way, fill the plastic container with water and add a little powdered soap, stir the water until it is slightly soapy, and soak the ceramic pieces for 1 hour. Then rinse the pieces by rubbing them with a sponge in circles until they are completely clean. Finally, leave the pieces on a clean surface until they dry.

🟠 When the pieces are completely dry and clean, add epoxy glue or liquid silicone to the areas needed to join the plate. Wait for the glue to dry slightly, no more than 120 seconds, and then join everything together.

🟠 Let the piece rest for at least 6 hours, and very carefully remove any excess glue with a small piece of cotton and more alcohol. Do not use solvents on pieces like these, which appear to be hand-painted, because the chemicals will dissolve the dye.

🔵 En un pequeño plato o bandeja coloca la cantidad de hojillado de oro que quieres usar, y divídelo en pequeños trozos acorde a las zonas donde esta "la cicatriz" de la pieza de cerámica

🔵 Con la boquilla del envase de pegamento de doble mordida o con un pincel fino, aplica una línea del grosor de tu preferencia sobre la unión de las piezas de cerámica. Espera 30 minutos.

🔵 Con ayuda de las pinzas, coloca las pequeñas hojuelas del hojillado de oro sobre la línea que dibujaste con el pegamento de doble mordida, y con el pincel redondo da pequeños golpecitos para que las hojuelas se adhieran al plato.

🔵 Y el paso final, es esperar aproximadamente entre 45 minutos a 1 hora, para después haciendo uso del pincel redondo de cerdas suaves, muy suavemente hacer movimientos circulares para que lentamente el excedente de material dorado se desprenda de la pieza de cerámica. No apliques demasiada presión, esta parte final debe hacerse con lentitud y delicadeza.

El proyecto de hoy es una comisión que acepté a finales de Diciembre de 2025 y pude entregar a finales de Enero 2026; normalmente cuando recibo pedidos de restauración con esta técnica mis entregas son rápidas, entre 5 a 10 días.

Pero finalizando 2026 me enferme mal del estómago y si me sigues en Hive, seguro viste la crisis familiar que pasamos con la perdida y recuperación de mi gatito Apolo.

Sentí mucha pena al tardar tanto en entregar esta pieza restaurada, cuya historia es muy linda: Este plato se rompió accidentalmente en las manos de un chico, y para su novia este plato es un objeto sentimental importante, sabiendo del caso una amiga del chico le sugirió contactarme para reparar esta pieza de forma especial para ambos, y aquí estamos.

La pareja esta feliz con el resultado y ya tiene la pieza en su hogar, y yo me disculpe mucho por la espera tan larga, el chico fue muy amable y comprensivo así que puedo decir felizmente que todo salió bien.

⚜️ THE CONTEXT BEHIND THIS PROJECT ⚜️

Today's project is a commission I accepted at the end of December 2025 and was able to deliver at the end of January 2026. Normally, when I receive restoration orders using this technique, my deliveries are quick, between 5 and 10 days.

But at the end of 2026, I got very sick with stomach problems, and if you follow me on Hive, you probably saw the family crisis we went through with the loss and recovery of my kitten Apollo.

I felt very sorry for taking so long to deliver this restored piece, whose story is very beautiful: This plate was accidentally broken in the hands of a young man, and for his girlfriend, this plate is an important sentimental object. Knowing about the case, a friend of the young man suggested he contact me to repair this piece in a special way for both of them, and here we are.

The couple is happy with the result and already has the piece in their home, and I apologize profusely for the long wait. The boy was very kind and understanding, so I can happily say that everything turned out well.
