🇪🇸 ~ Nos acercamos al final feliz para Ambessa, Marmoleada y Aceituna, gatitas rescatadas entre Diciembre de 2024 y principios de 2025 durante las fuertes lluvias que golpearon la ciudad. Como pudimos les ofrecimos refugio a sus mamás y hermanitos, cada una tiene una historia muy diferente:
🇺🇸 ~ We are getting closer to a happy ending for Ambessa, Marmoleada and Aceituna, kittens rescued between December 2024 and early 2025 during the heavy rains that hit the city. As we were able to offer shelter to their moms and siblings, each one has a very different story:
🐱 Ambessa: Nació la madrugada del 31 de Diciembre de 2024, el estruendo de los fuegos artificiales asustaron tanto a su mamá que le indujeron el parto, Pesto dio a luz en el jardín de un vecino, y próximamente movió a sus bebes al pequeño espacio entre una ventana y una reja, que muy pronto se hizo peligroso y decidí trasladarlos a un área más cerca de mi casa.
🐱 Marmoleada: Hermanita de Ambessa, es una bebé con mucha suerte porque fue la primera en ser adoptada y actualmente es una gatita muy amada y cuidada.
🐱 Aceituna: Tuvo un inicio de vida muy dificil. Ella y sus 3 hermanitos nacieron sin refugio en un área sin sombra ni cobijo, y cuando empezaron las lluvias su mamá los subió (aun no sabemos cómo) al techo de una casa, salvándolos del agua; lamentablemente horas despues su mamá los rechazó y unos vecinos muy jóvenes se hicieron cargo como pudieron de la alimentación de los bebés. Ella y sus hermanitos pasaron por graves infecciones de ojos y estomacales. Son un milagro.
🐱 Ambessa: She was born in the early morning of December 31, 2024, the roar of the fireworks scared her mom so much that they induced labor, Pesto gave birth in a neighbor's garden, and soon moved her babies to the small space between a window and a fence, which soon became dangerous and I decided to move them to an area closer to my house.
🐱 Marmoleada: Ambessa's little sister, she is a very lucky baby because she was the first to be adopted and is currently a very loved and cared for kitty.
🐱 Aceituna: She had a very difficult start in life. She and her 3 little brothers were born without shelter in an area with no shade or refuge, and when the rains started their mom took them up (we still don't know how) to the roof of a house, saving them from the water; unfortunately hours later their mom rejected them and some very young neighbors took over as best they could feeding the babies. She and her siblings went through severe eye and stomach infections. They are a miracle.

✦ Above is Aceituna, she is very big and strong and that is why I put her in the heaviest kennel. Marmoleada (the first 2 pictures) is smaller and is in the red kennel for kittens, she is not very happy, on the trip from her home to mine she spent many hours in a kennel (that was on Tuesday) and yesterday she was very stressed about having to go back to another kennel ✦

✦ Here you can see 2 of the bank transfers I made to pay for the surgeries and the girdles of the kittens to my friends who were on the other side of the city (it is always good to keep this so that people know where the resources go), as a precaution I had to censor some data, and look how cute those designs are! ✦
El día de ayer pudimos honrar la promesa que le hicimos a estas 3 gatitas, y tambien el compromiso que tenemos con todas las familias adoptantes que nos ayudan dándole un hogar definitivo a los gatitos que rescatamos y recuperamos: La promesa de volver cuando tienen la edad adecuada indicada por los doctores veterinarios, y encargarnos de sus cirugías de esterilización.
Yesterday we were able to honor the promise we made to these 3 kittens, and also the commitment we have with all the adoptive families who help us by giving a permanent home to the kittens we rescue and recover: The promise to come back when they are the right age indicated by the veterinary doctors, and to take care of their spay/neuter surgeries.
"¿Pero por qué buscas gatitos que ya diste en adopcion hace meses y tienen su propia familia?": Muchas de las familias adoptantes son personas trabajadoras o de recursos limitados, no cuentan con el tiempo para llevar a sus gatitos con el doctor y encargarse de todos los cuidados post operatorios, por eso he mantenido contacto con la familia de Marmoleada y Aceituna para que las trajeran conmigo y que pasen este periodo de reposo y recuperación conmigo. Esterilizar una mascota no es tan facil o economico como crees, los medicamentos son costosos y la mascota durante este tiempo necesita mucha atención y vigilancia.
"But why are you looking for kittens that you already gave up for adoption months ago and have their own family?": Many of the adopting families are working people or have limited resources, they do not have the time to take their kittens to the doctor and take care of all the post-operative care, that is why I have maintained contact with the family of Marmoleada and Aceituna to bring them with me and spend this period of rest and recovery with me. Spaying and neutering a pet is not as easy or inexpensive as you think, the medications are expensive and the pet needs a lot of attention and vigilance during this time.

✦ On the way under the effects of the anesthesia Aceituna peed, so first I had to clean her with a towel and wet wipes, wait for her hair to dry a little and then put on her girdle ✦
✦ And here she is clean, dry and comfortable ✦
✦ Happily, last night, the person I thought was her temporary home wrote to me notifying me that he would keep her. Aceituna has a formal family waiting for her! ✦

✦ Marmoleada's human mom has also asked a lot about her, she calls her “my girl” and has been very attentive to her evolution. Ambessa with God's favor, as soon as she recovers a little she also has a family waiting for her... I am happy, the effort is totally worth it ✦
El primero, es que se siente muy diferente cuidar a la mascota de otra persona, a cuidar a un gatito comunitario o que es tuyo, sientes una responsabilidad mayor y el deber de regresar con su familia al gatito en optimas condiciones es muy real.
En segundo lugar, la logística, en esta ocasión no pude asistir con el grupo hasta el sitio de las operaciones porque mi salud no es la mejor en este momento, pero sí pude preparar todo en casa para recibir y atender a las gatitas.
En tercer lugar, no nos ha ido tan bien como en veces anteriores con la recaudación de fondos, asi que nuevamente utilice mis fondos de HIVE y HBD para completar el pago de las operaciones, las fajas post operatorios y el alimento.
The first, is that it feels very different to take care of someone else's pet, to take care of a community kitten or a kitten that is yours, you feel a greater responsibility and the duty to return the kitten to its family in optimal conditions is very real.
Secondly, the logistics, this time I could not go with the group to the site of the operations because my health is not the best at the moment, but I could prepare everything at home to receive and take care of the kittens.
Thirdly, we have not done as well as in previous times with the fundraising, so again I used my HIVE and HBD funds to complete the payment of the surgeries, the post operative bands and the food.
Hoy me siento algo lenta porque vigile a las gatitas casi toda la noche, la idea de que vomiten y se ahoguen o se hagan daño por estar bajo los efectos de la anestesia siempre me da un terror espantoso (nunca me ha pasado pero igual me da mucho miedo); pero hoy han amanecido muy bien, comen, caminan lentamente, han tomado sus medicamentos y evolucionan maravillosamente 💖
Cambia su mundo, evita que tanto mamás como bebés gatitos sufran los horrores de la calle, el hambre, el maltrato, el sufrimiento y el abandono.
Ya estoy en la recta final de mi meta de esterilizar a todos los gatitos de mi comunidad.

Today I feel a little slow because I watched the kittens most of the night, the idea of them vomiting and choking or hurting themselves because of being under the effects of anesthesia always gives me a frightening terror (it has never happened to me but it still scares me a lot); but today they woke up very well, they eat, walk slowly, have taken their medications and are evolving wonderfully 💖
It changes their world, saves both moms and baby kittens from the horrors of the street, hunger, abuse, suffering and neglect.
I am already in the home stretch of my goal to spay/neuter all the kittens in my community.

Awww you’re so sweet and thoughtful for even being in contact with those who adopted the kittens to ensure they undergo their surgeries. That’s so lovely. I wish them a speedy recovery.
May God hear your good wishes dear Abenad. I will keep an eye on the adopted kittens as long as they need spaying and neutering, then I can finally go my way and let them go theirs 🙏
