I'm curious where the Bible says fools live by the year. Indeed Proverbs 6:8 mentions working hard and save for the future. Then again the Lord's prayer (and daily distribution of manna in is testament) show dependence on God daily. And the admonition to "not borrow tomorrow's trouble but to concentrate on today" gives the idea to focus on now.

In the end. Rely on God daily. Focus on today and doing your best with it. Plan for the future with today's actions but don't fret about it as even with the best planning the outcome is uncertain.

Like you I ponder every action to find the best route. It can paralyze you if you let it. I've made some bad decisions and many good ones. However I regret none of them. I know myself well enough that I never acted hastily and sometimes things just go wrong.

That's life.

As for a musical instrument... a story you might enjoy. In my early 30s I started playing the recorder (a poor man's flute). My wife insisted I not waste my money on an expensive investment unless I had the dedication to stick with the practice.

5 years of practice and I still wasn't very good. I could make tunes I enjoyed and it was fun to play for myself so in the first where no one else could hear.

Then I was able to hear some music on the recorder by Michaela Petri who was truly talented. I never picked up the instrument again. Even a lifetime of practice and I would never be a fraction as proficient.

I don't look back at it as wasted time though. I enjoyed what I learned. More importantly when I did hear true greatness I had a much deeper understanding of how much work and talent was being displayed.

There is growth even in failure 😉
