"My Story: A Personal Introduction"

Hello there! My name is Teresa Marie Basilan, it goes with a nickname @teremarie also. I am a Filipina. Thank you for dropping by my profile! I’m so excited being here and being part of this awesome online platform. I am full of so much eagerness to show and share my life’s story with you! My daily experiences, my journey in this life, is my story I would love to tell you with the help of this social media gateway. Soon my aspirations will take shape and open for all to see and get inspirations from it. I’m hoping that you will be with me in taking that road to happiness and fulfillment.

About Me
I am an ESL teacher. Teaching kids and adults from different countries all over the world is my way of living. It’s a challenge for me meeting various people with diverse culture and background each class. Teaching them what they need to learn about certain topic and during class discussion I use different technique so that the learner always be attentive and alert until the classes end. As a mother and a wife, I am not only staying at home for nothing, I mean because it is the old tradition and culture of a Filipino woman, that once got married, she stays at home working as a housekeeper. Responsible to take care of children as they go to school every day. Nowadays, the cost of living is quite expensive because of the continuously increasing inflation and so we need to strive hard looking for an opportunity to create money to help in sustaining our family needs. In these modern days, there is a lot of opportunity that could help us find a home base work and only our dedication and compassion will be our investment. I am also passionate about singing, especially gospel songs in which I am sometimes a worship song leader during our Sunday worship. I grew up in a Christian family as my parents always bring me to church during my childhood until I am happily got married to a person who is also a Christian believer.

Being together for 18 years, we are blessed with 3 children. One that is 18 years of age already, my eldest daughter, followed by my son who is 14 !(5)years old and my youngest daughter, 9 years of age. I can say that I am favored by having a family that I always prayed for in my younger years. Being a mother of these three wonderful children brings joy to my heart. Watching them grow is a moment I truly cherished till my last breath. Nurturing them, together with their father is like learning new things each day. Learning how to love unconditionally, how to be patient, how to be humble, an endless learning for us parents. In raising children to be responsible and kind to other people is our top priority as parents. Me, being their mother will take on the responsibility to give them life that is filled with compassion and support. With the support also from my husband, together we will be a loving and empathetic parent to our children.

Spending time with my children is rewarding, it is truly worthwhile. Watching movies they like, cuddling and laughing together is valuable. Having a pet in our home is showing love for the animals who can sometime play with us all day long which we also consider it as a stress reliever. During holidays, we spent time together going to malls and parks for having a family bonding which is always more exciting especially to the kids. As a parents, it is very essential to be having a close relationship and coordination with the children so that as they grow up, they will not be a menace or a problem to society but instead they will be considered as good example with their peers and playmates. My world revolves around my family.

Knowing I had a family to stand being my inspiration is my source of strength everyday in dealing life’s challenges. As a mother of three and a spouse to a father whose job requires him to be away from home is sometimes a struggle for me. But behind that difficulties I endure each day there is deep sense of joy and fulfillment when I simply making it through. Outside the comfort of my home, there I discovered the joy that friendship brings. Being with them gives me support, encouragement, renewed perspective, and I am often able to find some opportunities and engaging activities through our exchanges.

There is a saying that goes “No man is an island”. No one in this world can navigate “LIFE” alone. We need someone to connect to, community to gain support and social fulfillment. That is why here I am. Being in a group of people in social media gave me this opportunity to be with this community of great and uplifting creations in this platform. I am grateful to ma’am @antonette for guiding and helping me in taking these new possibilities. I take on the Challenge to be out there and discover this online gateway. I am ready and excited to discover what this online platform has in store for me. I believe that it will help me grow as an individual and I will look forward to do my very best in the fullest of my capacity.
