The Chronicles: Prompt 02 - My Simple Daily Joy: The Happiness of Feeding

Hello Hello to all Hivians, Silver Bloggers and anyone else reading this.

I hope you have been enjoying a great restful week...

being a feeder.png

As we Silvers know all too well, priorities shift as the years go by, and with them so do the things that bring us simple joy.

This week's #sb-chronicles prompt, "What's one small, simple joy that consistently brightens your day, and why does it bring you happiness?", really resonated with me ... Of course it fluffing did, I wrote it 🤣

Seriously though, I recognised in myself how much things and what brings us joy often change with age.

I do love reading chronicles from others and thanks to @irvinc and his entry I remembered just how much I loved and now miss newspapers!!!

Sitting down on a Sunday morning with a cuppa going through all the sections of The Sunday Times was a fun task and kept me upto date with so many things going on in the world not too mention current trends etc!

No newspapers used to make me Very Very Grumpy lol

image.png

I remember often reading a newspaper in the toilet, now it is your phone!

Talking of newspapers, it makes me remember when we used to work abroad. One of the things you did after your leave or R and R was to bring back newspapers for the lads. Woe betide you if you forgot, or were a newbie who had not been told about that!

Of course there is the morning cuppa, that brings joy, especially if someone brings it to me!

You're Pawfect with that cuppa!

image.png

But for me, something that for as long as I can remember that consistently has brought me joy is ~ feeding.

Mrs. T often calls me a "feeder," and looking back, it's something I've loved and found immense happiness in my entire life.

My culinary journey began young.

image.png

I learned to cook from my grandmother, picking up techniques and a love for creating in the kitchen. Later, at boarding school, our housekeeper further honed my skills. This wasn't just for pleasure, oh fluff no, it quickly became a source of income! I used to sell bacon and egg rolls to the other boys in my house, earning myself some pretty decent pocket money. Then it became meals and paid for my fags and booze!

image.png

Life moved on, university, jobs away and marriages came but the joy of feeding never left me. Later on Mrs. T and I would host countless dinner parties and celebrations and I didn't need any excuse to gather people and fill their bellies. I was always right there, in the thick of it, making sure everyone was well-fed and happy.

image.png

image.png

Now, in this stage of my life, the greatest joy I find most days comes from feeding animals and birds.

image.png

There's a particular warmth I get from tending to the wild animals in the park near us.

image.png

Some of you might know that I even use a portion of my Hive rewards specifically to buy swan and duck food from Amazon.

image.png

Watching them eagerly approach, seeing their contentment as they eat is fun. I have even converted Mrs T into loving this!

image.png

Knowing I'm providing a small bit of sustenance to these creatures of nature – that's a simple, profound happiness that consistently brightens my day.

It's a connection to the natural world, a quiet moment of giving that feels incredibly fulfilling.

image.png

It’s not for everyone, but being a Feeder brings me jon. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

image.png

What about you? What's one small, simple joy that consistently brightens your day?" Let me know in the comments! And why not join in with the fun and start your Chronicle!?

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!

It all looks delicious. my wife was watching a video the other day and asked me what brown sauce was. I knew it was a very UK thing, but I couldn't quite describe it to her.

Hmmm, is being a feeder the same as being a foodie?

I love to cook but for myself alone. When it comes to hosting people and feeding them, I leave that feeding part to caterers.

Feeding animals is also found to do and to watch especially pigeons😂😂

I think you awakened a memory in me with your post: I also loved reading the newspaper. Since I was a little girl, I used to read the newspaper to my grandmother; then, when I became a teenager, I became a fan of entertainment and sports news. As an adult, I loved Sundays because it was the day to be in my pajamas, read newspapers and have coffee with cake or cookies. Times that will never return (long sigh). Ah, I also like to cook and feed others, but only if I'm in the mood. hahaha. A front page hug, Ed

Oh Nancy likes to do things when she is in the mood!
Hehe I know that. If I pick up a newspaper, I will still read it from the back, as that is where the sports pag4s are!
A back page hug Nancy :)

Oh yeah. we are also in the feeding pleasures, which you might know if you read any of my posts. My wife is a greater feeder than me, as she will feed anything in the animal kingdom. We still get the Sunday Times, and I do what you do every Sunday after church. So, you and I might be brothers from another mothers.
A great post that I enjoyed to read.

Glad that you also like to feed the wildlife, as it is a magical time to watch them eating. Thank you and the Sunday Times was a great read today :)

I have German, Jewish, Italian, Dutch, and Norwegian blood in my DNA, so it seems like my ancestors liked to walk around, if you know what I mean. I don't know if any of them visited Scotland !LOL

One day, I will try your cooking. I do know you as a feeder, those animals are so lucky. And those foods look finger licking good.

That all looks delicious! It's important to enjoy the food we eat, I feel the same way. Something to be enjoyed!

I love all of the animal pictures in the park. Lots of birds and their chicks, and a lone squirrel enjoying it's meal! lol

That first sandwich? looks really good, I love eggs on sandwiches. That one looks awesome, and some tasty sauce to boot!

Oh yes you can't beat a fried egg on a roll with bacon, the sauce is our brown sauce. The closest thing you guys have to it is A! steak sauce.

We are lucky with the park just a five minute walk away, it saved my sanity in the pandemic.

Here's to a magical weekend!

All that delicious food, and no recipes. Your meals always look so good, Ed. Mrs. T is a lucky lady! And so are the squirrels and your feathered friends. I am so with you on this, it is also one of the happy things on my list :)
The newspapers, as well - how I miss them. We both used to scan the main news, then Arthur would disappear with the sports section, and I would go straight for the entertainment pages. Ummm, yes, sometimes the toilet as well, why, I have no idea. It never was comfortable trying to hold up those big pages!
Nice chronicle Ed <3

Hehe tabloids were easier to hold in the toilet than broadsheets lol
Ah recipes ... what are they 🤣 I just do what I think will go together.
Thanks Lizzie and enjoy the rest of your weekend

Thank you very much for the mention.

I loved reading your post.

Reading the newspaper was a wonderful experience, which, it seems, is beyond the culture of each individual.

My wife and sisters-in-law love to get together to prepare meals. They do it almost every week, and it's a time of great family unity.

When my children were little, they loved it when I took them to Bolívar Square in Maracay. At that time, there were many pigeons there. I gave each of them a bag full of corn seeds, and they spent their time feeding the pigeons. It was very nice.
Thank you for stopping by and commenting, dear @tengolotodo . A big hug from Maracay.

It is great to feed the birds, my father used to do the same to us, and then make us indentrify the birds and trees!

A big Scottish hug Irvin and by the way, yes they still sell newspapers but I have got outen of the habit of buying one!

You're a joyful feeder. I can also find joy in feeding those creatures. But not in cooking😬😁. You're the chef.😛
