The Chronicles: Prompt 01 - My Blue-tiful Obsession
Hello Hello to all Hivians, Silver Bloggers and anyone else reading this.
I hope you have been enjoying a great restful week...
First of all ... I had my first hydrotherapy session today in the Hydro pool that in Dunfermline, a bit of a trek but well worth it!
I am including a picture and you shall see why in a wee minute or two!
Queen Margaret Hospital Hydrotherapy Pool, Dunfermline
It was fluffing lovely and warm!
Can you see a colour dominating the picture ....?
First of all though ....
Welcome to The Chronicles series!
Are you ready ... I've been waiting since this morning to say this ...
Let's dive headfirst into Prompt 01.
"What's your favourite colour and/or how did colours influence/change your life?"
Hehe there was no diving, headfirst or otherwise this morning I hasten to add!
Before I answer Prompt 01, let me showcase this series from the Silver Bloggers community...
Each Monday we intend to publish a series of prompts which will make up your Chronicles...
Read more about it in The Silverbloggers Chronicles - Prompt #01
Back to me!
As per the title, for me, there's only one colour that truly rules the roost, and it's not just a preference; it's a way of life!
My favourite colour, without a shadow of a doubt, is blue.
This isn't just any blue. This is a deep, true, unyielding blue. A blue that signifies loyalty, strength, and perhaps a touch of long-suffering optimism, but No Surrender. You see, I am, through thick and thin, glorious victories and the occasional, shall we say, "character-building" defeat, a Rangers Football Club fan.
And what, pray tell, is our colour?
That's right, it's the royal, majestic, utterly glorious blue.
It's in the stands, it's on the shirts, it's in the very blood of the support. It’s not just a colour; it’s a creed!
On the underside of that home shirt above is this quote from one of our most recent successful managers, a gentleman whom I had the fortune to meet twice.
"THERE ARE PEOPLE FOR WHOM RANGERS FOOTBALL CLUB IS THEIR ENTIRE WAY OF LIFE" ~ WALTER SMITH
Growing up in Belfast in The Troubles as a child put me on the map as a Rangers supporter. I was a Protestant and so Rangers was my club, had I been Roman Catholic and lived in the other side of Belfast it would have been Celtic. But No, it was Rangers and King William of Orange. Orange is my second colour but we won't go into too much detail about that here...
Suffice to say that loyalist marching bands are often in blue as was seen in our local parade outside my house last Saturday...
Beyond the roar of the Ibrox crowd, my love for blue has woven its way through the very fabric of my everyday existence.
While I do love a good splash of colour in my wardrobe – life's too short for beige, as Mrs. T often reminds me when looking at yarn colours – you'll still find me gravitating back to the classics of blues and blacks especially when it comes to shorts and of course blue jeans!
And speaking of threads, when I first dipped my toes (or rather, my fingers) into the wondrous world of crochet, what was the colour of my very first beanie hat?
You guessed it – a lovely, comforting blue.
It might have been slightly lopsided and not so pretty, but it was my blue beanie. A testament to new skills and an enduring colour preference. Although to let the cat out of the bag, it was made not by a crochet hook, but by me loom knitting!
Even Mrs. T, bless her cotton socks had already fallen under the blue spell.
Her sports team of choice ... The Denver Broncos
Blue and Orange!
When she's rummaging through her stash for a new project, her "go-to" yarn colour is often, you guessed it, blue!
And those rather fetching aqua shoes I sport for wading into various rock pools or across water on the beach? What colour are they?
Oh yes, gloriously blue.
They just seem to fit the landscape, don't they?
The blue of the sky merging onto the blue of the water, the blue of the boat. It’s just… right.
So, how has blue influenced my life?
It’s not just about what I wear or what team I support. Blue, for me, represents my calm, my home. I grew up on the coast, I have lived for decades on the coasts of many countries.
The water is my calm, storming seas or flat mill ponds, the blue sea is my spiritual home.
Blue to me is the colour of fluffing vast skies and deep oceans, which have brought me endless opportunities and still offer more possibilities!
Blue permeates my passions, my hobbies, and even Mrs T's crafting choices.
It’s just my colour, plain and simple. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
What about you? What colour defines your world? Let me know in the comments! And why not join in with the fun and start your Chronicle!?
Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!

I loved your participation, Ed!!! If ever I've identified a person with a color, it sure is you. Suddenly in you there is a lot of sky, of sea, of bluebells and hydrangeas, of birds and blue fish, of sapphires, but undoubtedly of the Rangers. You'll have to check your family tree because you may even have blue blood! :) I send you a hug from this city surrounded by blues.
A fulfilling character would only love blue I guess, how cool it is to have your first beanie hat in blue, and you still have kept it...
I can definitely see how footy fans embrace the colour of their favourite team! And blue, well, yep the ocean is incredible for soothing the blues - though jeez I always think it looks grey in the UK! And that beanie - wow, there's a talent I didn't know you had! Very cool
Blue is the most beautiful colour in the world!!!
Who would not love blue?
Blue blue blue🌊💙⚕️🟦
