Night time treats
Hello Hello Hivians and welcome to the middle of the week!
Did you bring your walking boots?
You can tell that we have turned the light tide as I call it.
Here in Scotland it is fluffing dark in wintertime. But come the winter solstice it stays lighter and in a couple of weeks it will three minutes longer per day.
Get news for SAD sufferers like me!
All aboard
So last night well late afternoon, 5pm to be precise I went out to get some groceries and meet Mrs T at the bus stop.
It would be pitch black at this time a couple of weeks ago, even last week it would have been dark.
The camera on my phone does a cracking job of turning the dark sky into a gorgeous blue vibe!
Infact you can see the shades of blue as I left the shop and walked home.
The blurred speed motion of cars in the dark look cool. Well to me they do and that is what counts, right?
This is one of the main roads out into the countryside so is well served with car lights and street lamps.
At the roundabout though we hang a left...
A break in the traffic and if you are like me then you will love the way bare winter trees look in the blue night sky, almost giving silhouette vibes!
Another thing I love seeing in the blue nighttime sky is cool way clouds look.
Almost like a shooting UFO feel to it. Yes my imagination goes into overdrive at times!
This is usgoing past one of the park entrances. Those bare naked trees saying hello to us.
Top left corner you see a sign, it is actually advising that school children might cross as there is a school mot that far away.
We will close out the outside part of the walk with more naked trees.
This shot reminds me of a negative film pic.
What about the treats?
So on Monday I got a notification that a restaurant was having a 50% discount.
I had never heard of them. But it turns out [Pepe's)(https://www.pepes.co.uk/) is The HOME OF FRESH FLAME-GRILLED CHICKEN...
And I wanted a treat!
And my oh my it was fluffing tasty.
They had umpteen flavours, and even the rice was hot and spicy!
If you ever want some awesome chicken then give them a shot!
Cheers everyone!
Well this post is for #wednesdaywalk which was inspired by @tattoodjay
Thanks for visiting and I hope you managed to get out for a walk this week.
All images and ramblings are from me, the mad Scotsman TengoLoTodo unless otherwise stated. Note images are all snapped by me with my Google Pixel 9 XL Pro smartphone on 28th January 2025 and some were used in canva to make the lead image.

Thanks for using @worldmappin 😘
Hmm, dark by 5pm. That's pretty early boss boss.
Scotland is amazing 👍
Plus those grilled chicken look so darn good
Yeah but it was 4!
The chicken was delicious Becky
Nice 👍
I love spicy! I like to spice up my soups. When does winter end in Scotland? I already want to see those trees dressed in lots of green!!!! A hug, my friend and take care of yourself.
What do they say ... Variety is the spice of life. So yes I love spicy too. Winter end haha well in theory at the end of March. Then we get Spring, but we could get an early or later spring. As long it gets lighter then I don't mind.
Yes soon the shoots and buds will appear on the trees. Thank you and a bug hug over there.
I ro am glad when the days start to get longer now I just need it to warm up
Thanks for joining the Wednesday walk Have a great day
Ah yes longer days cheer me up big time, it is as if we come alive too.
The restaurant name sounds like a Filipino!
Our national hero nickname was actually Pepe
Is it really! Well the chicken was good but I know you wouldn't eat lhes!
Haha I do eat sometimes!
Hehe I know. And I hear sissy has the same thing with chicken!
My wife struggles with the dark and lack of sun as well. That's part of the reason we put our Christmas lights up so early this year and we still have some of them up.
Oh yes I remember you saying you still had some of yours up. That's a good idea.
Hello @tengolotodo
Your camera picked up the sky to be not too dark. What time of day does it actually get dark in your area?
That chicken looks appetizing.
greetings
Friend @tengolotodo I really liked your photos, very nice sunset. The sky could not be more beautiful. Those trees without leaves also have their charm and in your photos even more. You know, the chicken looks appetizing but as here in Cuba I eat it so much it bores me. But grilled it is very good. I like the spiciness too, that spiciness in food is very tasty.
Have a nice weekend. Best regards.🤗😘
Why didn't the moon show up? It always does when you're having a walk.😛. Trees look beautiful in those silhouette.
The short days in winter is the only thing my son doesn't like about the Netherlands. He uses a light therapy lamp, not sure if it helps!
Pepe's looks exactly like my favourite takeaway Nando's, which now has competition called Pedro's! Very delicious.
Not sure if I told you before that I had a friend at school who came from Fife, always think of her when I read your blogs.
Have a good Friday Ed, glad the days are becoming longer!
Ah yes we have your Nando's here, which to be honest is not as good as when they first came over here. Not sure what happened, maybe got too big and started cutting corners.
The daylight or lack of it yes it gets to me, so I feel for your son!
Happy new month Lizzie 🤗
It's awful when something good comes along and as soon as they're popular then suddenly quality goes down the drain. That kind of thinking for sure leads to failure.
The 2nd month of the new year already, quite unreal.
Happy February for you as well Ed🤗
Chicken with piri piri yum yum, looks delicious, Super Ed!
I don't know if I would get used to living in a place where the days are very short, I think I need the sunlight. Rorro tells me that's one of the things that hits him the hardest when winter comes, more than the cold.
The flip side is that we have incredible daylight in the summer. When we went back to Orkney that summer it was fun seeing it still being light at midnight 🤣
I can only imagine everywhere being pitch black at 5pm, sounds very cool. 5pm over here is still very bright.
Nice that you got to try out a new chicken place at a 50% discount rate . It looks yummy 😋😋

pitch black at 5pm is depressing, but it means we have summers where it is bright at 11pm.
Yerah the chicken place was amazing, but I think that discount won't last long!
Really, sounds cool to me. Wait you mean 11pm when it's supposed to be dark but it's bright? Wow!!! What a wonder
Yup! It definitely won't last long, that's just a way to gain new customers lol. I'm sure you'll still visit even tho they take it back to the normal price.
Yes sometimes light at midnight, down on a beach in the moonlight like that it is really romantic!
Hope you are having a great week Meya :)
Wow, it's just like in the movies 🥹
Yes, I am 🤗, do have a splendid and stress free week ☺️
