If the kids are united then we'll never be divided in ttt177

Hello music lovers and Hello hivers!

Tuesday for me on Hive means three tune tuesday...

It's Tuesday and of course that means it's inspiration time!!

This week I have been seeing a few memoir monday posts with the topic How has your worldview evolved over time?. I was tempted to combine this post with that one, but in the end fluff noI won't...

When I read the prompt I immediately thought of one song which was a bit of an anthem back in the day.

Today my post is not a sham, but it three tunes from Sham 69

It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!

@ablaze started #ttt 177 weeks ago! Go check out what it is all about on his last post Kendrick Lamar III and concept albums for Three Tune Tuesday - Week 177 - win 6 HBI

Do go support @ablaze as without him we would not have this mental fun musical activity that you can win HSBI from! I am happy to be one of the TWELVE sponsors and it is kinda fun checking out music from all over this global village of ours!

Long live #ttt 😁🎼 and #threetunetuesday

Who are Sham 69?

Sham 69 were an English punk rock band that formed in Hersham, Surrey England in 1975.

Hersham you will see is important in a minute or two.

They were proper punks, working class lads who wrote politically charged lyrics, but the songs often ended being fluffing anthems as you will see!

They actually had five top 20 singles and are one of my goto bands when I want some fast bouncy music!

Sham 69 - If The Kids Are United

If the kids are united then we'll never be divided

This is Jimmy Pursey the front man at his finest. The crowd pogoing around, magic days.

The lyrics though is what got to me and why it reminmded of the prompt I mentioned earlier in the post.

When we get divided is when we are vulnerable, and so many changes occur then.

But these lyrics @deraaa what do you think, I know how you love lyrics..

I have no freedom
How do you feel
They can lie to my face
But not to my heart
If we all stand together
It will just be the start
If the kids are united then we'll never be divided

Yeah it was an anthem.. And a catchy one at that!

Lyrics are from lyricfind

Sham 69 - Hersham Boys

I did say Hersham was important.

So yes the band was from Hersham which is a village in Surrey, England, located within the borough of Elmbridge

I thought I would find you some fun facts about Hersham ...

So did you know that ...

  • King George III visited Weylands farm in Hersham to see the first drill plough.
  • Queen Victoria saw her first steam train in Hersham and recorded it in her diary.

I didn't and I am not sure if it happened or not, but that was what Gemini AI told me!

But I did see that they took the name Sham 69 after seeing a faded piece of graffiti referencing Walton & Hersham Football Club's Athenian League title win in 1969

Sham 69 and The Special Assembly - 'Hurry Up England'

As I am typing this I heard that England football team have a greed a new manager!

And shock horror he is a German!

There have been many historical links between England and Germany or West Germany at football and ironically Sham 69 had one of the best football songs which I think should have been an English football anthem for when they were playing in the 2006 World Cup and yes you guessed it Germany!

image.png

As Hurry Up England was a charity song with others ... I think we need a Bonus Tune!!

So let's have the original Hurry Up song ....

Sham 69 - Hurry Up Harry

I love the fast paced politically charged songs and if I want a pick me up then bam on goes the punk playlist with many Sham 69 songs in ti!

Which was your favourite Sham 69 tune? Or is it not one I played?

Note: The ~three~ four YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.

I wish that you all have a brilliant rest of your week, and until we meet again enjoy your tunes 🎶🎵🎶

Thanks for visiting!

Yeah that is quite the lyrics. Makes me think of my country and how we are always divided by things like tribalism and religion. So very sad… I do want and crave freedom.

These Sham guys give heavy instruments… lol. Very funky and so not my style. My ears would bleed from listening to those… I’m a soft rock kinda girl you know 🤭😉

Yes it was the lyrics I wanted you to hear not the music. I have never heard punk get called funky before and yes I know you are a very gentle rock girl.
Yeah tribalism and religion divisions just won't go away. If anything it is getting worse.

It would have been interesting if you had linked Memoir monday with #TTT. I'm sure you would have come up with something great! There are songs that make us change our perception of the world. Good lyrics and good music, as always. Regards

Strangely I only knew Hurry Up England hahaha, I had an obsession with songs from the 2006 World Cup, but today I discovered that I know almost nothing about punk, only the most commercial stuff. These songs are super energetic, I'm glad they came into my life today, I know I'll find a space to listen to more Sham 69 music...

The vocalist voice sounds familiar. Anyways, I love how lively these songs are. You it has that vibe that will make you move your booty together with the song. But I like the first one, it has that cool vibe in it. I'd listen into this while cleaning the house or maybe while doing the laundry. lol
