Easter Sunday

Today is not only Easter Sunday, well this post will be my contribution to #sublimesunday initiated by @c0ff33a and #beautifulsunday initiated by @ace108 and a new one that I will try for #sundayrandom initiated by @ekavieka where he shares random macro shots.

Decision time

I am making an interactive post. Lunch was beans.

I made these over night...

image.png

Pork and chilli pinto beans, fiery edition.

I had asked Mrs T what she wanted as our Easter meal. I was thinking of a nice leg of lamb or something, but oh no she wanted some beans!

Well I prepped them and cooked them overnight and today we served up bowls of beans..

Tomorrow will be making burritos with ground beef and the beans. So damn tasty!

image.png

image.png

Easter for me means chocolate Easter eggs

Ironically I have a couple of neighbours who don't give us Christmas presents or cards but give us a couple of Easter eggs!

You can even write on the packaging who it for as a gift.

image.png

So this year I had 4 to choose from!

I have never been a fan of Easter bunnies, usually it is cheap chocolate and tastes stale I found. Maybe it is different now!

image.png

Have you heard of Caramilk?

image.png

I hadn't, so when I saw it in the shop yesterday I just had to buy it! So along with @asiaymalay wanted to see what it was like!

image.png

Right enough it is not a milk chocolate egg but a golden caramel chocolate egg!

I cracked it open, how do you crack yours?

I prefer the good old Glasgow kiss, let's you take out your frustrations too!

The proof is in the pudding as they say!

image.png

It was delicious and reminded me of the old caramac bars, not sure if they still make those!

Well a very nice change.

Do you have chocolate eggs or other eggs at Easter time?

Someone asked me what is the significance with eggs and Easter... So Gemini my trusty AI told me ...

Symbolism of Eggs: Eggs have been symbols of new life, fertility, and rebirth for thousands of years, often associated with pagan spring festivals celebrating the renewal of life after winter. Christianity adopted this symbol to represent the resurrection of Jesus Christ – emerging from the tomb like a chick hatching from an egg. The hard shell symbolizes the tomb, and cracking it represents the resurrection.

Then the chocolate companies got in on the act and it became another commercialised holiday, with the real meaning being lost on many.

The macro shot

image.png

Who can guess what that macro shot is of?

Sweet and Savoury

Easter time is not all about the sweet eggs...

Oh no, we do have some savoury things to.

For example, my coffee is calling for a hot cross bun!

image.png

Tomorrow is a public holiday in the UK so after all this chocolate and butter and jam I shall be hopping down to the gym tomorrow for a biking session overlooking the sea!

image.png

Thanks so much for popping in and Happy Easter.

How craving it, my God! We don't celebrate with eggs around here. In some places, they make a figure representing Judas and then burn it. I don't know how they'll burn it today because it's been raining.
I want hot chocolate now. I usually make the beans, and they're very good.

Enjoy these celebrations.

I remember when I lived in Andalusia in Spain, semana santa was full of religious processions. So different to here in the UK. Burning Judas well I hope it sropped raining for them to do that!

Good to learn something new every day: I was unaware of the symbolism of Easter eggs!!! I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but I think I'd try those Caramilk. I would also try the muffins and of course those spicy beans. I hope you paired it with a delicious drink. Oh, and the macro picture is of the edges of your easter egg? Sending you a hug

Hehe you saw the edge of the egg...yes you are right!
The hot cross buns are great with milk or a hot cup of tea!
It is always great to learn things. If we don't we are closed and how boring is that! A learning hug to you

Happy Easter boss boss. The egg makes sense but I agree that it has been overly commercialized.

Cadbury Caramello bars here if I recall, they're awesome! Happy Easter to you too and those spicy beans looked awesome, very well done! The end result with the chips and sour cream looked really tasty... Chocolate eggs are part of Easter, and those tasty treats at the end looked great too!

How did you feel after cracking open that big old chocolate egg? lol

Here they were made by Nestle after being created by MacIntosh's in 1959 hence the Mac in the name.

image.png

But they stopped in 2023!

Yeah the beans are always a hit especially when I hadn't made them for a couple of years.

How did you feel after cracking open that big old chocolate egg?

Well I had a sweet forehead afterwards 🤣

It's the chocolate milk egg side😛. It looks huge in your pic. The milk egg. If it is in white color it can be mistaken as a dinosaur egg😁

Happy Easter, Tito Ed. I'm salivating while reading this. I can imagine the beans must be super spicy but tasty. I'd love a serving of burritos, please😀 Looking yummy!

I don't remember the last time I had a milk chocolate egg. But from the looks of it, your sweet tooth was satisfied. Now I'm craving, too!

Happy Easter for you and the family.

Caramilk looks interesting never looked for the eggs here, we do get caramel topping on ice-cream which I go banana's for.

Main Easter Eggs are marshmallow filled by box of 48 that have become expensive. Marshmallow looks like egg inside splooshed with cheap chocolate outer shell.

Hope you have enjoyed your Easter, the food looks great BTW !LUV

Thanks Joan, it was quiet but good Easter, and the caramilk was nice. Interestingly I found it sweeter than chocolate, maybe as I love dark chocolate and that is the least sweet of them all!

Hunt is permanently on for dark chocolate, price markdown then hide in my drawer, anything 70% and above comes at a cost. Avg reduced price on 100g bar is £3 (ZAR65).

Wow that is even more expensive than here! No wonder it gets hidden in your drawer if you find some markeddown 🍫

Local don't make the really bitter, it is imported and treasured when I get a wee markdown.

I can imagine the beans nice and soft after cooking overnight.

That is exactly why we cook them overnight in the slowcooker. They are soft and tender so to speak!
