Everything in Moderation
Hello Hello Hivians.
Don't you just love health matters and what we are told is good for you and what isn't good for you.
Just wait a few years and then they will change their minds about things.
I just remember what my grandma said decades ago...
Everything in Moderation
I have long believed we need to do things that we enjoy and live in the moment.
When I started working abroad in West Africa when I was 23, I saw life getting taken away in a heartbeart.
Rival warring tribes didn't care who they killed.
It really hit home. Life is fragile and ever since then I have lived in the moment.
Mind you the excesses of my youth would be too fluffing costly to do now!
But last week in the glorious weather I did go shopping and spotted some treats, which I brought home via the Auld Kirk you see in the first picture!!
Mrs T actually saw these wee Teddy shortbreads. Being Edward I used to get called Teddy, infact I have a facebook account where I am Teddy Edward and when I booked the painting sip and paint class it was through that.
So every time the teacher asked how I was getting along she would said Teddy, which tickled Mrs T no end.
Actually they were only 99 pence, so what is that, about $1.30 or great value.
I also picked up a box of 6 Tunnock's tea cakes in dark chocolate! Tea Cakes were from my youth too, but hell no there was not dark chocolate around in those days!
I am a dark chocoholic, I think a throw back to when I went fishing with my father. He would sneak us a bar of Cadburys Bournville dark chocolate, so that is my sweet tooth!
But back to our title .....
Everything in moderation, they say.
But think about this.... what if moderation means a whole box of shortbread teddy bears and a Tunnocks teacake for dessert every night? I mean @asiaymalay loves having two desserts, so what do you think Asia? Is that moderation?
Or maybe it's a lifetime supply of dark chocolate? After all, dark is better for you, right?
I'm not sure I believe in moderation anymore. We are free thinking Silver Bloggers afterall!
Moderation seems like such a restrictive word.
Like, I can only have one cookie, or one glass of wine. But what if I want two cookies? Or two glasses of wine?
Who's to say I can't? Haha not even Mrs T can 🤣
I mean really, who only eats one fluffing cookie? You do? No way, what amazing self control you have!
I think we should all just do what makes us happy. If that means eating a whole box of shortbread teddy bears and a Tunnocks teacake for dessert every night, then so be it.
If it means living on a diet of dark chocolate, then go for it!
Life is too short to worry about moderation.
So go ahead, indulge in your favorite treats. Just don't forget to brush your teeth afterward!"
Right that is my rant over for today, because after all ... everything in moderation!
Thanks so much for popping in and have a great new week!

I couldn't agree more, everything in moderation! And live for today, because life is fragile and short. Having lived in the third world for many years of my life and then served in the US Army, you see it all too well. Enjoy those goodies with a nice beer to wash it down!
Yeah I know you have seen it too. The goodies were cool, talking of moderation, even I do with it beer lol so no beer washed them down, just coffee!
I am totaly agree. 😘🙏👏👏👏
Hehe thank you and yes the best way to be
🙏👏
As a child I had many restrictions! I had to eat my soup, I couldn't jump, I only watched TV after homework and I had to go to bed early. But I grew up! And it would be absurd for me to put restrictions on myself (the prisoner himself locks the door of his jail and keeps the key). I don't have a sweet tooth, but I love salty snacks like chips, tostones and cotufas. If I'm going to eat something I like, I do it without guilt complexes. Of the good stuff that I like, a lot. A hug of chocolates, Teddy!
Oh yes as a child, don't do this but eat this. IF you don't finish your plate you will get no dessert.
jaja the prisoner locks his own door, that was funny Nancy :)
Salty snacks don't forget those wee plums!
A dark Teddy chocolate coming your way Nancy
now thats a cute little teddy that will go well with a cup of hot tea 😁
Tasty Teddy!
Actually they were so buttery they were delicious :)
How are you this fine day Freda?
Well I've been better working up my ass for a better future as should 😊
Scottish shortbread is some of the best there is! I've had it a few times via some local store here in the US. Probably not nearly as good as the real thing. Eggs, coffee, nuts... All sorts of stuff they can't make their mind up about whether it is good for you or not.
Yeah it is tasty and of course we grow up on it!
Yeah see eggs, coffee, nuts you got it, they just can't make their minds up. Water is dangerous if you drink enough of it!
Haha, that is true about water!
I'd like to be moderate with my coffee, but every time I drink too much, I look for its benefits, and there are many.
I've given up sugar myself; I don't add it to my coffee or juices. There are days when I barely consume any, but if I get a craving for one of my daughter-in-law's cold cakes, I'll eat it slowly and savor every spoonful. They're delicious treats.
Yes, sometimes it's good to indulge and experience the benefits.
Best regards.
Oh sugar, I have never added sugar to things. My mother was a type 1 diabetic so she never used sugar so we didn't take it.
I know in Spain the Spanish would have lots of sugar in their coffee!
But you are correct, sometimes it's good to indulge, afterall we only live once!
Hahaha....Teddy took the "moderation" thing in another dimension 🤣🤣
Wait...hope I am allowed to call you, "Teddy?" 😉
I was taught moderation while growing up, too and I feel I understand vividly what it means in my point of view. You are also right. Everyone has their definition of what moderation is and whatever makes you happy, then, it's fine. Do it!
Moderation, to me, is just not doing too much in a way that will affect you negatively. Moderation is doing the right thing. Well, I might be right or wrong but that's my own understanding.
Have you seen a moderate powder being rubbed on a lady's face? Also, have you seen another that has a whole paint of powder, making you question the real face? Hahaha. The former is moderation to me.
In the end, live your life and enjoy it. Life is too short not to have fun if you are capable and can afford it.

Thank you 🤗
hehe but of course you can call me Teddy Busayo:)
Oh I love your lady's face analogy. It brings us back to the other age old saying ... when less is more! They go hand in hand.
You are spot on with doing something that does not affect you negatively, that is a great way of thinking of modertion.
Great insights as usual Princess and thank you for putting a smile on my face :)
Life is fluffing short so let's just enjoy it!
😂😂😂
I couldn't help but laugh at this boss boss. I can just imagine the teacher calling out Teddy non stop.
Haha it was funny and I couldn't help but smile :)
😁😁
Eat all you can😁😌. In your hearts content😛. But eating dark chocolate at night can make you awake and hyper 😁. So eat it after lunch for your own sake😌😌.
Hehe after lunch eh, okay I shall bare that in mind. Thank you, would you like some for breakfast 😁
My wife tells e this all the time. She says I have no self control when it comes to treats. Thats why we don;'t keep too many "yum yums" around the house.
Haha you sound like me, if we have them then I eat them 🤣
Attribution: Many people from Socrates onwards.
Oh so very true, many people!
Live and be happy, those teacakes look delicious in dark chocolate, dark choco'holic here no excuses.
Beer and wine rhyme when in the mood for a good fling, enjoy the day chomping away!
No veg no treat the chef in our house said, boy he could make shortbread and oat cookies growing up, his word still echo in moderation.... always!
hehe you really can't beat dark chocolate Joan! Hehe oh oat cookies now that is another gorgeous treat!
Yeah moderation always is the way to be.
