Being given the evil crow eye on the beach!
Hello Hello to all Hivians and indeed anyone reading this.
Whenever I walk down to my local beach I never know what I am going to find...
The pictures in this post were all taken on Friday July 11th 2025. Some of these pictures were used to make the lead image for this post on Canva by the author.
It was a glorious day and we were paddling the length of the beach with me stopping for the odd picture...
Intense concentration
Not with the fledging seagull...
but with the crow who was guarding something!
He kept trying to peck at something...
Every so often he would stop and check he was not being watched...
Back to it ...
Change angle ...
Check not being disturbed...
Then really get stuck in and get whatever it was!
Don't you dare come here!!!
He had made his point, nobody was going close to him...
He seemed to be bored and starting walking away, but he had seen me ..
... and gave me ...
The Evil Eye!
He stopped to see if it had the desire effect!
Once happy he waddled off ...
I still don't know what he was trying to prize open.
So we went our separate ways with me back paddling to those three towers you see in the distance!

Giving the Evil Eye
That was a tricky choice to make. There were a couple of others I could have chosen. I did like his stay away shriek photo for example!
But I like this one with the crow walking away but still giving me the eye, which in the light has turned a demonic blue!

This os one funny crow. I'm watching the seagulls on the beach, which are quite annoying when they fight. you can't rest at all
Oh yea we have loads of seagulls, and annoying is an understatement
Yes, you picked a good photo. I would have picked the one with the beak open, about to fight. But this one is good. With that last image I was reminded of a Ted Hughes poem about the perversity of crows. A feathered hug

What a funny bird! They like to let you know to stay away, it's his beach. lol Awesome pictures of the inquisitive bird, maybe he though there was food to be found inside of whatever it was!
I presumed it was some sort of shellfish in there, but I couldn't tell what it was. I was in the sea and not going back onto shore to see what it was then come back out lol!
They are funny wee things when you stop and watch them.
Oh, that look. The crow is not joking. 😀
