MY FIRST TRAVELLING EXPERIENCE
"My first time experiencing traveling alone, and this moment I can never forget the experience forever,
In the year 2020, which is the Corona year, at that time I was about to write my final exam in secondary school, but because of this pandemic of this disease that came across all over the world, the exam was postponed till no time.
So I decided to travel to my maternal grandmother in Ondo state, although I usually went there at the year of each session, and enjoy my holiday with my uncle and grandma.
Then I ask my mom to write the name of the town I will come across, so that I can reach home without being lost.
She wrote it and also described it, she started describing one after the other, by taking a bike to the tipper garage, then took a car from the tipper garage to Ikare and from Ikare to Akungba Akoko and from Akungba to Oka Akoko and later to a bike from the bus stop to my grandma's street. It was interesting and I was happy the way my mommy described the journey.
It was the day to pack my belongings inside my travel bag, I was so excited on the day of the journey, after my Dad gave me the transport money which is two thousand and five hundred naira and little money that is with me. After my breakfast is ready I entered the kitchen to take the food so I quickly rushed the food so that I can get to the bus stop.
On getting to the bus stop, I was called on the bike by the driver saying Ikare !!!!!!!. Are you going to Ikare? I replied by nodding my head, and he said enter the car it remains one more passenger.
After five minutes another guy also arrived at the bus stop and said I am going to Ikare, later on, the driver collected eight hundred naira from all the passengers and we started the journey, I was very happy to the peak of my heart, that I did not sleep inside the car, the driver bought some petrol in the vehicle and we continued the journey, the driver was so speedy that the passengers were trying to tell him to slow down a little bit.
As we continued the journey, I always looked through the side mirror so that I can see different houses and the main purpose of this is to know the names of the town we are passing through.
Immediately we reached Imesi, one of the drivers called the driver that the border has been closed. We were so shocked in the car when the driver said it then the driver parked his car under the tree that is in Imesi juncture. So the driver that called ours driver brought his own car.
Then the driver told us to come down in the car, and said my friend we take you to Ikare, hearing this I carried my bag from the car booth and ran inside the other car, our belief is that the transport will be free since we have paid the driver that took us from Ado.
But before we continue the journey the driver also requested for eight hundred naira too. All the passengers reacted to the price of the transport and everybody started mourning. But the driver frankly replied to us that if you can pay the money then come down from the car. I was afraid because I still have many buses to board so that I can finally got home.
Then I pleaded to the driver to have mercy on us and I also told him that I'm going to a far place, so he accepted my offer and collected five hundred naira from me and seven hundred from others. Then we continued the journey by taking another route that is different from what my Mom told me.
And because of the routine being changed I was able to know Ode Ekiti and Isinbode Ekiti. We discovered that the driver is so speedy than the former driver and the oldest passenger among try to tell the driver to slow down a little but the driver told us that soon the border will be close and everybody shouted at the same time ha!!!!.
On getting to the border we saw two men trying to close the border gate but the driver horn to them and they open the border gate we are so happy when we finally pass through the border that is when my heart stopped dreaming different sorts of thoughts.
After so minutes we arrived at Ikare bus stop, then I checked the paper my Mom wrote for me and I followed her instructions to Akungba and from Akungba to Oka Akoko. And I later stopped at the market then I took a bike from the market to my grandma's house.
My grandma's and my uncle were amazed and they couldn't believe that eye because I came alone from Ado Ekiti to Ondo state. And I was so happy to see them. This is my first time experiencing traveling alone to a very far place but it is pleasure to me."
I can imagine how fearful you were seeing that the route was changed from what mom described. That's life for you, sometimes, things don't just go the same pattern and in every experience, there are lessons to learn. Glad you reached your destination regardless of what you encountered on the road

Some drivers can be annoying, look at what they did, who knew if they planned it just to escort more money from you people, in all you arrive your destination whole and healthy that's the good part but then your mum wrote down every place for you like a mini map😁.
Hahaha. I can relate to that experience of travelling alone for the first time. Your mom who easily gave the description, knowing it was your first made it easy for you on the journey. The experience is always thrilling when you are alone without an adult following you.
Yes, I really enjoy it, but when the border is sealed I was afraid
How old where you when u traveled alone didnt get that but am glad it was a brilliant experience
Just 17 year then
