Through Beginner Eyes
There’s something humbling about holding a camera and realizing how much beauty hides in the ordinary. Yesterday, I was at my parent’s and there are lots of bushes around so it rained. After the rain, I decided to step outside with my lens to see what I could find. We don’t have perfect landscapes around or very stunning portraits, just the little things and I was in the mood to find beauty in those little things. And somehow, raindrops on a papaya leaf and the curve of a stem caught my eye. So I clicked away.
I’ve been photographing things before now but I’ve not been as patient as I was with these ones and right now I think I want to take photography seriously.
While taking these pictures, I learnt real patience. The kind that made me stop, really stop, and notice. Those droplets felt like I was watching a different world, carrying reflections, bending light, holding still for just a second before falling off. I felt like the universe was reminding me that life’s quiet moments are just as fleeting as they are profound.
I’m still learning, still experimenting, still editing to find my own style. But what I love most is how these few photos have shifted my perspective. It’s just funny how an everyday backyard suddenly became a canvas after a rainfall. It makes me think that maybe beauty has never been about chasing the big things, but about paying attention to the small details we often overlook.
In addition, these pictures are not just about random raindrops. They’re about me learning to see and slowing down enough to notice that there is always something worth capturing, even in silence.
images are mins and were taken and edited by me with my phone.
