In Need of a Book That Will Steal My Sleep. Any Suggestions?

IMG_9715.jpeg

I think I’m in trouble. I’ve officially run out of books from my reading list. Every last one. I mean done, dusted and packed into my “read” pile. Now I’m just here, tucked in bed, a little lonely, listening to the rain pour since yesterday(it’s been raining nonstop), and somehow I crave that feeling again. The kind where a book grips me so hard I forget to reply to messages or even forget that growling stomach. I want a book that will have me clutching my sheets at 2 a.m. whispering, “just one more page.”

There’s something about me though and it’s that, I only read in bed. It feels safer there. There’s just something about sinking into pillows with a book that feels right, like both my body and mind agree it’s time to escape into another world. And when it’s raining? Even better. Since I can’t listen to music while reading, I don't know how people do that but the soft rhythm of rain drops on the roof turns out to be a perfect soundtrack for my reading adventures.

But here’s where you come in. I need recommendations because I’m tired of looking. The last one I picked up myself, ended up pissing me off that I couldn’t sleep the entire night because I was mad at the author. That said, I am seeking not just “good” books, but mind-blowing ones. The kind that lingers after I’ve closed the last page. The kind that makes me laugh, ache, or even question life a little. You know… the ones worth sacrificing sleep for.

So tell me, please, what books had you gripping your sheets, unable to let go? Drop them here. My bed is ready, the rain is steady and I’m waiting for a new story to sweep me away. These books are my own Prince Charming.

Thank you.😊

I really liked American Dirt. There was a little controversary about the author's right to tell the story but it's a fantastic read.

I think it will be difficult to get a good suggestion. If the person suggesting, does not know your reading background.

Hi ronnie(cute name btw) Thank you so much for your concern.

I actually prefer thriller, mysteries, and crime novels. :)

Aww.. thanks.. Well, if you are into that, then you might want to check Agatha Christie's novels. But, if you want a novel with a philosophical depth to it. You might check writers who writes in philosophy.

Sure thing. Hopefully, you find something good. But, what I know is that there are many aspects to look at. For instance, type (fiction, non-fiction), genre, meaning & depth and lastly the way the book is written.

Hello @teknon! I really liked "The Aspern Papers", a novel by Henry James. It meets this criterion. If you haven't read it, I recommend it and hope you enjoy it.
