Weekend-Engagement Week #284: Reminiscing Childhood Days...

If I were to name something I miss about being a child, that would be spending time with my cousins.

Most of the time, I'm with my maternal cousins because we live close by. We get to play and do a lot of activities together after school. And on Sundays, a couple of cousins would come to hang out with us as well.

Despite being busy with school, we always find time to enjoy. We play sports, especially basketball... and explore places around the house. There were even times when we had to run an errand, but we took a detour and jumped over the school fence to explore it when it was closed.

Doing crazy adventures without worrying about anything, like facing the consequences of our actions. As adults, we tend to think before we act. I guess I missed being impulsive, since I can't or at least try to avoid doing it! hahaha

Another thing I miss about being a child is summer vacation! In the Philippines, students tend to have almost two months of summer break... and when I was young, I used to spend nearly the entire summer in my father's hometown.

Of course, I'd spend it with my cousins. Sometimes, my aunt would let us do some chores, then give us some money in exchange. Then, we'd buy some snacks to share with our younger cousins in the park.

We also did some crazy things together, like ding-dong dashing houses in the neighboring streets. Our grandpa used to get angry at us for doing so. hahaha

Our male cousins were also quite active with playing football, so we also watched their matches in the football field.

This is the same area where my cousins and I would have picnics or play on the playground. Most of my paternal cousins play football, but I'm more of a basketball kid. I need not worry, though, because this area also has a couple of outdoor basketball courts. So I also get to play the sport I like with them.

My cousins are the best thing about my childhood. I had tons and tons of memories with them.

Recently, my family and I were affected by the typhoon. We had to evacuate and temporarily move house. We couldn't save anything, including our clothes and necessities. We're all safe, though...

And among the people who offered help were my cousins. Some of them visited us in our temporary place, bringing some clothes and groceries.

When the typhoon and flood happened, my father was stranded in his hometown. So my cousins there prepared some stuff for him to bring so that we could start again.

I'm just glad that, even though we're no longer kids and we don't spend as much time together, our bond remains. We still got each other's backs...

Yes, I miss the old days. Less worries, more fun! However, going through challenges while receiving support from the same people I used to fool around with and do crazy things with is really precious!

If I were to be a child again, I'd still do all the things I did with my cousins. It's fantastic to have a crazy childhood after all!

I'll end this post here. Thanks for reading, and see you around! Happy weekend, everyone! :)

It's really easy to take our childhood for granted, children know no better I suppose. It's also good to look back and remember what we loved about it as you have done in this post.

Hello!!
That's true... Sometimes, we only get to appreciate something when it becomes a memory. How about you? What do you miss the most about your childhood? 😁✨

The childhood bond is usually strong even as we grow, oh so sorry for the destruction from the disaster that happened and glad to hear your cousins gave a helping hand
