Using the French Press for the First Time <3

Hello friends and coffee lovers! :)

I've always been a fan of coffee, although I used to only have instant ones. However, earlier this year, I started brewing coffee using a disposable filter. It happened when I got enticed by the smell of coffee while getting some groceries.

It was UCC's Roast Master Drip Coffee Sumiyaki. The packaging had a small hole, allowing us to smell the aroma of the coffee. Obviously, I got tempted and bought it.

After that, I became too choosy about the instant coffee we buy. It's usually just Nescafé Gold or Nescafé Tradicao Forte that suits my taste these days. Well, mostly the latter since it has a much stronger flavor.

Earlier this month, I shared a post in this community about the coffee beans and electric grinder I purchased. Getting them made me excited. Then, @macchiata suggested I get either a Moka Pot or a French Press.

To be honest, I didn't have any idea what they were, so I looked them up online. And based on how they were used, I decided to get a French Press.

)

I created an unboxing post of the French Press, along with some treats for our furbabies, last night, which you can read here.

Before the product arrived, I looked up more information, especially the amount of coffee to use. There were various types of ratios introduced, but I decided on the 1:15 ratio.

It means one part coffee and fifteen parts water. Since I'm using 750 mL of water, I need around 50 grams of coffee, which is equal to around 10 tablespoons of ground coffee.

I had no idea about these measurements, but I decided to give it a try and adjust it to our taste afterwards.

This morning, I finally got the chance to use this new baby for the first time. I had a class from 8 AM and usually I wake up 30 minutes before it. However, I woke up a little past seven to make some coffee using the French Press. Here's what I did. :)

I prepared the French Press and ground the coffee to a medium-coarse consistency, as it's said to be more ideal for the brewing method I chose.

I added 10 tablespoons of ground coffee into the carafe.

Then, I added some hot water, stirred with a chopstick (lol), covered the lid, and let it sit. I waited for about five minutes to steep while enjoying the aroma. hahah

After waiting five minutes, I got to do one of the most exciting parts: pushing the plunger! It was so satisfying to watch. It's amusing how a simple thing like this can make me so happy and excited! XD

You can also see our furbaby Arashi in some of the photos... well, my father, too! lol

It's now time to pour the coffee into our mugs. Chopper (from One Piece) seems so excited about it, too! hahah

Our coffee has transformed! hahaha My mom doesn't drink much coffee, but she likes dipping her bread in one. Also, she prefers to have more milk in it. My father likes coffee, but he also likes it with milk or brown sugar. This time, I only added milk to their coffee, without sugar.

And, of course, I usually have mine black, with no milk or sugar. I think it's perfect to drink, especially with something sweet.

The taste was stronger than the usual coffee I had, but I loved it! However, I'll try to adjust it to make it less strong for my parents next time. haha

There was a bit of it left at the bottom, so I added just a small amount of water and let it steep while we were having breakfast. Then, I poured it into my tumbler, added a bit of the coffee from my mug, milk, and ice cubes. It's my energy source while having my morning classes. XD

We got various types of bread from our favorite bakery today. I like their products because they're delicious and not too sweet.

I had to rush my breakfast this morning, though, because I got absorbed in making coffee and taking photos that I lost track of time. There were only around 25 minutes left before my first class started, and I hadn't even turned on my PC. So, I had to multitask. I was able to settle down in front of my PC 3 minutes before the class started. ギリギリセーフ~!!! (I love this phrase: Girigiri Se-fu or Just in time!)

I talked too much again. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this coffee story. Thanks for reading, and see you around! (^^,)/
