Strawberry Shortcake (Watercolor art)

Hello friends! :)
I hope you all had a fantastic Friday... I'm working this weekend, but I'll try to insert some art-related stuff in between. It's an excellent way for me to relax, even on a workday.

Anyway, it's been a while since I added an artwork to my art wall, so I decided to add one tonight. And I thought of painting something delicious... and here's what I came up with! :)

This is just one of my favorite cakes, though I don't get to eat it that often. Strawberries are not that common where I live. However, I thought it would be among the most fun to paint. :)

Allow me to show you some progress shots I took.

Since it's going to be an addition to my art wall, I used 10 x 10 cm watercolor paper. I started with a simple background.

Using a 3H pencil, I sketched the cake that I'm going to paint.

I decided to use my solid watercolor for this painting, but since I don't have any white left, I'll use poster paint instead (only for the white part, though).

Using a combination of brown and yellow hues, I colored the cake part and added details to the cream part.

Then, I added color and some details to the strawberry. I mostly used hues of red, orange, and a little bit of green and yellow. :)

I finalized the details for the strawberry, then added more white poster paint to make it look extra creamy.

I suddenly want to eat strawberry shortcake! hahaha If only I could make my paintings real. haha xD

Using a gold gel pen, I added my signature and the date today. It turned out better than I expected! :)

By the way, here are the watercolor and poster paint that I used for this artwork.

Now, let's take off the masking tape around it, and do a photoshoot. (lol)

I don't usually paint food, but I think it's an interesting subject. I'll try to make more in the coming days... both traditionally and digitally.

By the way, I also made a GIF for this artwork. :) Check it out!

And lastly, I took a selfie with my painting.

And that's it for tonight. :) I hope you enjoyed this painting. See you next time! (^^,)/
