SpongeBob and Bikini Bottom in the Laundry Area... <3

Last week, my father's project was to repair the laundry area. The platform where we used to place the washing machine was close to being destroyed, which made the washing machine shake a lot when in use.

He made it wider to fit not only the washing machine, but also some water containers where we could store water. Max played on top of it first before we could put the washing machine back. haha

Aside from the platform, he painted the plywood behind white, as well as the used floor mat we placed below it.

Before he painted the plywood, there were some SpongeBob stickers I had stuck in the past. However, when he took the stickers out, they were torn. So sad... XD

This was one of them... and this is the smaller one. I've been a SpongeBob fan since I was in elementary school.

After working for two hours, I went out to have breakfast with my parents. They were talking about Papa planning to paint SpongeBob on the white plywood in the laundry area. I was so excited and volunteered to help. Initially, I just wanted to make the background and some small designs, then Papa would draw SpongeBob.

However, he told me to make the whole thing because he's scared to paint after me. hahaha He said he didn't want to mess up... He's actually quite good at drawing, too... but since I've already started, I agreed to do the whole thing instead. Anyway, he also had other stuff to do around the house. :)

I prepared the things I needed for the project. First, the "canvas" and, of course, the painting materials.

The space is huge, but it isn't easy to paint the right part of the plywood because of the washing machine. There's only around 4 inches of space to stand on, so I decided to paint mainly on the left part, and just add some designs on the opposite side.

I created a frame first, then did the background. One color for the sea, then the sandy part where SpongeBob will be standing, and a little space in the foreground where I'm going to add some corals, and similar stuff.

Then, using white paint, I outlined the stuff I'm going to paint, like SpongeBob's pineapple house, SpongeBob, and other small stuff.

)
)

I started with some base color first... The plywood wasn't even to begin with, because we just reused it and painted it white. So, it's quite a challenge to use acrylic paint on it, but I tried making it work. haha

I added some more details before stopping for a bit because it was already lunchtime. It already took me three hours to finish just this much. Well, it's quite big, so that makes sense. haha

While Papa and I were working on some stuff outside, Mama was cleaning inside the house and also prepared a delicious meal for us. We needed to replenish our energy to finish our projects. hahaha

After lunch, I proceeded with the project. I made some adjustments because SpongeBob's hand and head were greenish since the background mixed with them. I am impatient when it comes to waiting for the paint to dry, which isn't good at all. haha

I added some more details... and messed up. hahaha Outlining in this position is so difficult and tricky. My hands were shaky because I couldn't go near the canvas. We couldn't take out the container beside the washing machine because it's full of water. hahah

)
)

And here's the more challenging part. I had to reach over to paint something on the opposite side while hanging on to the washing machine because less than half my feet were supporting me on the platform. XD

)
)

I was able to survive and successfully complete the project after an additional two hours. It started to be really sunny and a little hot, so I'm glad I finished it before then.

I just added my username and signature... and that's it! <3 Here are the before and after photos below... :)

It was certainly fun, but now I have a backache. hahaha I don't mind, though. I like how it turned out.

This project was random, and I completed this first before my other projects. haha I'm yet to complete the cabinet from last time. I haven't restarted yet because I was busy when my cousin stayed here last week. I'll slowly work on it in my free time.

)

And yeah... while I was painting, Papa was also doing stuff here and there. And one more random thing, the stationary bicycle is back in the front yard because Max is now allowed to walk around and stay wherever he wants inside the fence... and I need more space in my room for my DIY project(s). hahah

That's it for now. Thanks for checking this out, and see you around for the next one! (^^,)/

How cool! 😍 You definitely brought that space to life with SpongeBob. If one day you don't feel like doing laundry, I'm sure that big smile on Bob's face will make you say, "I'm ready!" haha. Good job, my friend 🤗💚
