Quick Acrylic Painting of the Northern Lights :)

It's Monday again, so another long and busy week of work has started. I'm working for 10 hours again today. I spread my schedule, though. That's why I'm able to take breaks in between to stretch and do other stuff.

I had an hour break a while ago, so I decided to paint something quickly. I limited myself to 30 minutes to do the painting, so I chose a simple design and initially decided to just use acrylic markers.

I ended up creating this artwork in less than 20 minutes. It's pretty simple, but it looks kind of cute. :) I'll make another version of this someday, too!

Anyway, allow me to share some progress shots of the process.

After preparing a 10 x 10 cm watercolor paper, I started coloring the background using different colors of acrylic markers. I chose several shades of pink, lavender, green, and blue. I just randomly created fine lines and they served as the background.

After doing the background, I outlined a generous amount of white acrylic paint over it. This is going to be the lights.

Then, using a fan brush, I just brushed the white paint going up. I think my paper is too small. hahaha I'll try recreating this on a bigger paper or maybe canvas next time. :)

After that, I outlined some mountains in the foreground. I'll just add it as a silhouette.

Just the black paint was too bland, so I added some white paint as details. And it's done! haha
I took out the masking tape around it.

After the black paint dried, I added my username, then just wrote the date and my signature below using a gel pen.

And that's it for this post. :) It was a quick acrylic painting, but was still enjoyable to make... and it turned out cute.

I'm really fond of looking at photos of the northern lights. I hope to see it in person someday. For now, I'd settle with my paintings and imagination. haha

Thanks for reading and have a good one! (^^,)/

This is an interesting process, I enjoy the way that you created the color transitions. Like very tall blades of colorful grass, until the white lines transform it into something different.

Thank you for sharing your art, and your process 🙏

Northern mountains should have snow -- good last touch to make this painting PERFECT!

I thought of the Yukon range in Alaska when I saw it ... and, what you can also do with snow and auroras when you have more time is put just a few touches of the auroras reflecting in the snow ... like a sheen ...

I had to search it to see. hahah
It does resemble my painting! ^^
Wow... I'll keep that in mind. I'll try to add more details when I recreate it on a bigger canvas or watercolor paper... and if I have enough time. haha

Great art converges with the art of creation, too ... you have excellent instincts and they are leading you right!
