Plant Stories: The Place (Day 2/5)

It's my second day of the Plant Stories Challenge, and so far, it has been smooth-sailing for me. I guess it's also because I've already decided on my concept for the challenge, so what's left is the execution.

It's still pretty challenging, though... as I'm not used to digital art, plus the equipment I use. However, I've been discovering new things on the app I'm using, so it's also fun in its own way.

Anyway, for Day Two, we are to draw the place where the plant we painted on the first day is located, thus "The Place". And below is my take on it. :)

The plant I drew on Day 1 lives inside a hole in an old tree located in the middle of the forest.

There's a reason for that, and you'll find out about this secret tomorrow on Day 3. :)

For now, allow me to share some of the layers I did for this drawing. :)

It has already taken up all the space in my canvas. hahaha Good thing that Day 5 falls on a Saturday, so I'd have enough time to figure out what to do for the final challenge. I could still insert the secret *(Day 3) and the friend (Day 4) here... so please look forward to checking them out!

As always, here's a gif version of the Day 2 process!

It was fun, and now I want a tablet even more... but I'll survive without it for now. haha

I'll end this post here. See you on the next one! (^^,)/

That plant living inside a hollow tree is such a cool setting, it gives the whole story a quiet mystery. Having the concept locked in really shows, even if the gear isn’t ideal. Sounds like the canvas is getting crowded, the plant picked prime real estate. Which app are you using, and did you find one trick today that made things easier?

Mystery is what I wanted to achieve. haha Thank you! It's the same app, Medibang Paint... And no, I still haven't found my style when it comes to digital painting. It's fun experimenting, though. ^^

Mystery achieved, for sure. Experimenting is half the fun, and it really shows. In Medibang, do you have a go-to brush you keep coming back to? I like saving a few layer presets to test light quickly without messing the base, do you try something like that?

Thank you! :)
I don't have any of those... I'm not systematic when painting. I just do what I feel like doing... hahahah

Love that, pure vibe mode. Do you still have any tiny rituals, like dropping a quick base color, locking alpha, or flipping the canvas to sanity check? If not, what's one happy accident you noticed that you want to keep in your toolkit?

It's a different experience every time, so I'm enjoying it. Perhaps if it becomes monotonous, I may find it boring. hahaha

reminds me of that kind of aerial plant I see growing on tree barks everywhere around me. You did a great job depicting the prompt my dear. I love it.
