Lady in Red ❤️
It's been almost two weeks since I last had the opportunity to practice digital painting. The last ones were random Echizen (from Prince of Tennis) and a dragonfly line art. They were just quick sketches, and I didn't bother coloring them.
Until then, I was using my smartphone to practice digital painting. It was a struggle, but still fun. However, my phone is on the verge of dying. Well, at least that only applies to the phone's battery life. My phone still functions well, except for that part, so I plan to replace the battery one of these days.
Yesterday, I decided to actually get a tablet... I was undecided between getting a phone and a tablet, but the latter would be a better investment for me. I'd be able to extend my phone's battery life if I only used it for the usual transactions (paying bills, etc.) and messaging.
Getting a tablet would give me a better chance to practice digital drawing, have a larger screen for watching anime, reading books, and manga, and also for gaming. I still have to pay it monthly, but I can use some of my blog earnings (especially from my digital drawings) to cover it.
This post marks the start of my digital drawing journey, using my new buddy... and I call this artwork, LADY in RED.
Just as I did when using my phone, I downloaded the Medibang Paint App. It's the only app I'm familiar with, although I still paint by feeling and trial & error. Hahaha
However, it's so much easier to paint now with the bigger screen. It's much smoother to use, and I no longer need to worry about stopping to charge my phone. haha I'm also still able to use the pens I got last time, so it's better. :)
Anyway, here are some screenshots of the drawing process. :)
I started by making a draft... I'm not good at making full-body drawings, but I'll try to challenge myself more in the coming days.
Then, I added a temporary line art so it would be easier to color later on.

I first started with the base color. :) I still don't know how to use some features or options in the app, so I just choose random brushes and eraser.

Next, I did some of the shadowing, particularly on the face and body. :)

I removed the temporary line art and replaced it with a thicker and more flowy one. Usually, when I paint traditionally, I add the line art after I finish coloring, so that's what I did here. ^^

I then added more shadows and highlights to the dress and hair before adding a background. She kind of looked like a cat, so I chose the free cat background from the app.
Finally, I added my username and signature to the artwork... and it's done! Anyway, I made a GIF version of the process, so here it is!

I'm excited to create more artwork in the days to come. I want to practice more, and, of course, I'd have to finish my DIY projects at home as well. It's always so enjoyable to create something.
I hope you like this artwork, and I'll see you on the next one! (^^,)/
