Gravitation (BL Anime) Art Collab with @suezoe <3

My third BL anime art collab with mi amiga, @suezoe is finally up! It took both of us quite a while to work on our parts since we were busy with our everyday lives. However, we still completed it... and I'm super happy to work with her again. Of course, we're doing more in the coming days!

For our third collab, I chose Gravitation from the list she provided. I don't exactly remember the story as I watched it more than 15 years ago, but I know it was among the classic BLs I enjoyed!

My lovely friend chose to draw Yuki Eiri, so obviously, I'm in charge of Shindou Shuuichi. I just love cute ukes like him! hahah

Even though I don't remember the anime completely, I do remember that Shindou was trying his luck with his band. He was trying to finish the lyrics for their song, but he couldn't find any inspiration.

One night, he was walking in a park holding the paper of his draft. The wind blew it and was later picked up by Yuki, a famous novelist. However, the novelist criticized his lyrics... With this encounter, he's determined to finish the song to confront the renowned novelist once again.

I'll have to rewatch it one of these days... or at least give the manga version a shot, too! :)

Anyway, let me show you my part of the collaboration! :)

My friend @suezoe finished her part of the collab first. It was so cute, and I like the art style she used... so, I decided to make my part as similar as possible to the style she started. :) She also left a layer with this guide, so I decided to use it.

I started with a sketch. I included the sketch both without Sue's drawing and with her drawing on the other side, so you'd see the transition. :)

Next is the base color... though I made a mistake and forgot to open another layer for the hair's shadow. Hahahaha

Next up is the line art. She made Yuki's hair so detailed, so I tried to match Shindou's hair with more lines, too. <3

I then added some shadow to the artwork. The outfit he's wearing is kind of inspired by one of the outfits he wore during their performance. He's such a cute guy!

I finalized the drawing by adding some highlights and minor details.

Finally, I added my signature.

It was challenging for me because I seldom draw bodies... and the position is quite awkward, so I re-did it a couple of times. hahaha And, I also had to try matching the art style...

It turned out better than I expected, though. It was a great way to challenge myself and enjoy another collaboration with my friend from the opposite side of the world.

I wonder what we're doing next... but one thing is for sure, it's going to be enjoyable! <3

Thanks for checking out my post... and my friend posted her part of the collaboration, so please check it out, if you haven't already. <3

See you around! (^^,)/

Awwwwwwww! I'm so glad you had fun drawing it even though you're not used to that style. It's great when we step out of our comfort zone and prove to ourselves that we can do it. You did an amazing job! 😇 We can keep trying different styles with each fanart to keep experimenting 😉💚

It was fun... I did struggle a bit, but it's more fun that way, isn't it? :) Thank you so much... ^^
I'm looking forward to doing another collab with you! <3

This appears to be a great art combination! With you and suezoe making the old classic BL anime Gravitation animated, you are the one who drew the cute Shindou Shuuichi, and her the drawing Yuki Eiri. The final piece is lovely, although it might be difficult to find the right styles and challenging poses. It is amazing that you are addressing more collabs!
