Cosmos Flowers --- balance and harmony! (Poster Paint)
In order to calm myself down from the stress of not being able to work, I decided to paint something light today. I'm not familiar with floriography (flower language), but I think it's kind of interesting to know.
Flowers are pretty, and they're among the most interesting subjects to paint, so I decided to paint one. I've drawn or painted some flowers in the past... but mostly roses, tulips or hibiscus. This time, I chose the cosmos flowers. I like how they vary in color that sometimes, their petals are even with some designs.
This is what I came up with...

I chose red, pink with lavender colors for this artwork. Also, I used poster paint on a 10 x 10 cm watercolor paper.
Now, let's go through the art process, starting with the preparation and pencil sketch. :)

)After my draft, I brushed the whole paper with water, so it's easier to spread the paint.

)For the background, I wanted it to be the sky. That's why I just painted it sky blue. I also added some streaks of white here and there, but I didn't really form clouds. After the background, I proceeded to coloring the center of the flower using two shades of yellow for the pollen and a couple of shades of green for the stem.

)Next was I colored the petals with the base color I mentioned earlier, which were red and pink. The lavender would be for the detailing later on, especially on the pink petals.

)
)After adding some details on the petals of the flowers, I added the usual stuff, my username, signature and the date today using a blue gel pen.
Lastly, I removed the masking tape over the painting and took a bunch of photos from different angles. hahaha

)And that's it for my painting today. It's simple, but relaxing to look at... don't you think so? Painting is indeed a great way to take one's mind off things. I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed making it.
See you around and have a good one! (^^,)/
