Chuuzenji-sensei Mononoke Kougiroku: Sensei ga Nazo wo Hodoite Shimau kara.
Recently, I've only been reading Webtoons or manga. I do watch some animated films, but I haven't really watched an anime series until a couple of days ago.
Well, my Mama and I are also rewatching The Prince of Tennis, so it's quite hard for me to insert watching something else. Anyway, I'd like to share my thoughts on this interesting anime, which has a rather lengthy title. (hahaha)
It's called Chuuzenji-sensei Mononoke Kougiroku: Sensei ga Nazo wo Hodoite Shimau kara. or The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei: He Just Solves All the Mysteries in English.

Chuuzenji Akihiko becomes a Japanese teacher at the Tokyo Metropolitan Mitogawa High School. He has a calm and almost cold attitude, exuding a mysterious vibe. He has profound knowledge about everything and strongly believes that there are no mysterious things in the world.

In his new workplace, he encounters Kusakabe Kanna, one of his students, who is bubbly and has a strong desire to help others, despite it often leading her into trouble.

One day, the kind-hearted Kanna learned that one of her classmates had been cursed by a ghost rumored to be in the old school building. She decided to investigate it herself, but she found out that it wasn't really a ghost.
It was their new teacher, Chuuzenji-sensei. He's staying in a hidden room near the old school's library, which is filled with forbidden books related to history, war, among others. (The setting was Post-war Showa era)
He didn't want to disclose the existence of the hidden room where he often worked, so he decided to spread a rumor that Kanna was able to exorcise ghosts.

Although unwilling, Kanna ended up being viewed as an occult expert by her peers and was forced to investigate events related to the paranormal. She had no choice but to accept the request, but she relies heavily on Chuuzenji-sensei's help despite his difficult character.

This episodic anime basically shows Chuuzenji-sensei and Kanna showing the world that "There are no mysterious things in the world." They solve them through logic and reasoning.
The anime only has 12 episodes, but there's not a dull moment! I truly found myself enjoying it. It's a mixture of history, mystery, and comedy.
I like the setting of this series. I guess it being set after World War II gave the mysteries more impact. It also features some common ghost stories that often occur in Japanese schools, particularly during those years.

In addition to the main characters, there are also a bunch of funny and interesting supporting characters. I like these two in the photo above... Kiba (the policeman) and Enokizu... They're both sensei's childhood friends.
I just discovered that there's an anime featuring the three of them alongside another character, Sekiguchi. It's called "Mouryou no Hako" (released in 2008), and I believe it's darker and deeper than this light-hearted series.
I'll be watching it soon! It's more of my style... and the art style based on the thumbnail is sooooo good!
Anyway, this anime is fun and interesting. It's light-hearted, but the way the "paranormal" mysteries were solved through logic is intriguing! So, if you're into mystery, paranormal stories and comedy, then this series is for you! ^^ Each episode has its own charm, so you'll enjoy it without getting bored. :)
I'll end this post here... I hope you give this one a shot! See you around! (^^,)/
